One man’s OCD is another man’s upright and virtuous living.
I had a mission comp who checked a lot of those boxes but I’m sure he just thought I was an evil rule-breaker.
Are you claiming you weren't?

My sister must have this. She's the type that will drop the Book of Mormon on her bed and search for God's message for her each day on the page that falls open. She once went to the temple every open day for six months praying for her husbands death because she was against divorce. You can't talk with her without her name dropping a new concept that she read in the scriptures that morning, or her preaching and using scriptures to help you in your life.
I'm going to forward this to her and she how she reacts.
Pretty interesting stuff. What a sad condition! Don’t know anyone personally who truly seems to suffer from this, but I’ve had friends whose parents’ approach could definitely foster this kind of thing if it was latent.

Would God have put 800 km between me and the Mission Prez if he didn’t want me to make my own rules? That makes no sense!
There was that one zone in my mission that was way farther than anywhere else--about a 12 hour bus ride to get to the zone center and then another hour to get to the area I was in. I think every mission probably has at least one area that way far away from the mission home.
It seems like the biggest shenanigans in the mission always take place at those distant zones. I used to assume that the mission president sent his most valiant elders out there to curb any misbehavior. But even then, crazy things would go down anyway. Now I realize that the mission president wasn't sending his best to the distant locations, he was just sending out the missionaries he didn't want to have to deal with.
