That is very true of the wards North of here I have been in on both sides of Dallas North Central. The Dallas ward I attend seems to be a lot less Utah-ish than any of those.Originally posted by FMCoug View PostTransplanted Mormons aggregate in the newer suburbs so this makes sense to me. Our ward in Flower Mound was much more Utah-ish than the one in Rockwall. But the FM ward was maybe 80 or 90% western transplants too."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

The only wards/branches I've been in with sister missionaries also had at least one set of elders, so that problem was avoided.Originally posted by The_Tick View PostMy ward has the RS President coming to PEC every other week.
I am the WML...and they make me drag my ass there every week.
I have a great idea....Sister Missionaries in your ward, female WML.

It's the missions that skew the demographics. We go on missions and become far more conservative.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostIt seems to have gotten younger. I still laugh to myself every time I think that you not only moved to Utah, but to Utah County."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

In my experience and FTR, the "nuttiness" of my North Texas stake is mostly due to Utah County transplants. How do you like them apples?Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Postlol. My bad on that one. I was thinking of some of the stories from Tick and SoccerMom. Let's stick with Texas.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostFTR, my ward is much better now that I have moved into the city. I am sure there are some fine wards in Austin as well. How about just wards North of Dallas and in and around the Houston area?Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostSo stipulated.

FTR, there is a least a good size nugget of truth. Many leaders here in North Texas trace their roots to UC and seem to make it their calling to form our ward after their UC ward image.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostIf there were a nugget of truth in there, I would have the nuttiest ward/stake in the church.
Here's something else to laugh about. Upon graduation from BYU, my wife and I both had matching job offers in two locations: UC and North Texas. One reason for choosing North Texas was to distance ourselves from UC cultural Mormonism. Now we find ourselves in a North Texas stake that is more culturally Mormon than the UC wards I visit when I see family.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI still laugh to myself every time I think that you not only moved to Utah, but to Utah County.
Maybe we just get the UC nuts here in North Texas...or the ones who have called themselves on a mission. But my theory is that UC Mormons find themselves at the buckle of the bible belt in North Texas after being born and raised in Utah and that tends to draw out the rigid Mormon in them...being in Babylon and all.“Not the victory but the action. Upon further review and to get somewhat back on topic, it appears that the original point is that the "women in pants at church" poll that indicated 80% disapproval was allegedly skewed by UC respondents. lolNorCaland North Texas Mormons are weirder than UC Mormons. My point is that North Texas Mormons are weird because they are actually transplants from UC. The native Texans and those transplanted from the midwest are the sane ones

Apples and Oranges. Attending professional/graduate school in Texas appears to be a ballast to UC "nuttiness". Now some of these good folks still end up with an unseemly fancy for things of the burnt orange variety but its a small price to pay for the benefits gained.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI have a son in North Texas.
