I'd love to go to Peace Way. Does that mean there's a spot open? Peace Way is the closest chapel to my house, but instead I have to drive to Twain and Rainbow, which isn't even in my stake.

We've lived in the same house for 4 years and the ward's split 3 times. Lehi Traverse Mountain 5th ward split. We went to Lehi Traverse Mountain 6th. TM 6th split into the TM 6th & 7th (we stayed in 6th). TM 6th & TM 7th did a two-for-three split into Lehi TM 6th, 7th & 10th. Still in TM 6th. And our stake is up to 16 (17?) units...

Our ward is now ~300 active members with about 375 members total. The entire ward is one long windy road, and a couple culdesacs off of it. But we're landlocked - no where for the ward to expand to, so that's probably all the splitting the TM 6th ward will ever do.

None taken at all. In fact, that is such a nice turn of phrase that I might start using it myself. For example, when a church teacher asks "Who in here is a convert?", instead of the trite answer of "We all should be!" that someone always makes, and usually someone who you would like to punch in the groin, I will instead say "Not me, I have been under the curse since I was eight years old".

Good idea. Then there will be two people in the class we will all want to punch in the groin.

                  1. I can't find it, but I remember one Cuffer describing getting his ward boundaries changed as feeling like he was a polygamist and had been reassigned to a new husband.

                  2. People griping about having to drive a long way to church perhaps do not understand the inconvenience of church building placement in the South. My stake center is an hour away. There are members of my ward who drive over 40 miles to get to church, since our ward goes from Darlington to the North Carolina border. When I was in high school, I had to drive 30 minutes just to get to my seminary class. Class started at 6AM. I had to leave by 5:25 to not be late, which means I had to get up at 4:45 in the pinche AM to shower and get ready.

                  3. The stake president in NOLA was such a hardliner about attending your assigned ward that he drove some recent converts away from the church, refusing to let them go to the temple because they wouldn't attend their assigned ward.

4:45 is definitely the pinche AM. That's some dedication. I barely made it to my release time class because the lure of a double blueberry from Tasty's was usually too great.

Back off. We women have been using this phrase for a while now.

What's worse; there was a class less than 10 mins from me, but I was "assigned" to the other class because they needed more people. EVERY SINGLE OTHER KID lived in that neighborhood or the adjoining one.

Your bad luck with assignments started early.

a few weeks ago the ward to the east of us was dissolved, and put into the two adjacent wards.

Our new ward from the Lord has been a total flop. Of the 4 families kicked out of the old ward two have already moved and we are planning on moving into a different ward where our kids will go to school with the kids from church.

As it stands with the current boundary that was changed 2 years ago us and the other family are now about 15 minutes from everyone else in the ward as outliers. So we are going to move and the retired couple will be the last family in the new boundary. Any attempt to talk to the SP about it has been met with "This wasn't my decision it was the Lord's".
