  • Continental Breakfast in Hotels Sunday Morning

Hotels due to nature of business have to be open for travelers Saturday and Sunday night. Were else would travelers stay. Though we are not to shop or spend money on Sunday. I stayed in a Hotel last Saturday Night.

Had nephew getting blessed in the central Idaho town of Council. Has a small LDS ward thjere takes in a few places. Large geography. Stayed the night in ONtario Oregon. Sincethe breakfast was already there and it was not fast sunday the need was there so I did eat the motel continental. It is a need. Have read of GA's when traveling eating at Restauraunts. I think Hal and M Russell went on Sunday with Al Sharpton to a Restaurant.

Anything wrong with that? didn't matter people still stopped at McDonalds and Convenience stores on the way home. Traveling and nature wonder if need requires them to be open. There is debit cards for gas now. Would of been good cut in home teachers movie using debit card.

Wonder if continental breakfast is appropriate sabbath activity when you stay in Hotel Saturday Night. I knew Marriott used to give LDS peoople discounts for traveling far to Stake Conferences and needing to stay the night. Stake leaders told them not to go to Restaurant part Sunday morning and bring food in coolers then.

I'm pretty sure it's OK as long as you don't use the toaster or the waffle iron (unless of course the appliances have one of those sabbath-override switches that Jewish folk use).

So I would stick with the yogurt. danish, and small boxes of Frosted Flakes myself.

I've found a loophole in this. Whenever I'm traveling on Sunday, I'll have one of my kids that is not yet 8 years old fill it up with gas or order the food from McDonalds. I'll make sure they also swipe the card to pay for the gas/food. Since they are not of age, no sin is committed and everyone is still pure.....and, of course, delightsome.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that this is one of those commandments that are no longer in force once you leave town.

As I understand it, you should pack all of your food and take it with you and eat cold cereal in your room, sans the milk.

Also, if your pillow falls on the floor on the Sabbath, is it lawful to put it back on the bed?

I always heard that about the word of wisdom.
