  • Ga's on vacation right now.

They always go on vacation the month of July. I am sure there are some that hold down the fort. They may do work for open houses of temples and are available for funerals and such. But have no Stake Conferences, Temple Dedications or Mission Tours. They do speak at the MTC though. Have too as missionaries are there year round.

Hal has a summer home in Sun Valley. I remember hearing someone Hillary about the Sunday School lesson and wonder who put it in. Hal said I did and talked to him. However I heard that during Gordons Tenure he wanted them within 100 miles of Salt Lake vacation time.

As much as they travel I am sure some may want to stay home and recuperate in July. I don't know if GA's in foreign countries have assignments in July I doubt they do. But I can see why. SWK was real sick as were his counselors. Got better so called Gordon as additional counselor and Neal as Apostle then got sick again. I read were ARthur Haycock said he saw a miracle. That was the July recess. That is why Neal was surprised Neal MAxwell that is.

Though they do some church work now July is the month they don't travel and I don't think too many come to the office. Or spend much time there if they do.

I believe I will start taking July off also from my church duties.

So their choices were Wendover, Evanston, Manila, or Payson?

I fully expect a visit from one GA as he has children in our ward. Last year it caused quite the stir. Hopefully our vacations don't coincide and I'll be able to shake his hand.

I have never heard this phrase before but it made me chuckle. Good job grape.

I hope the boundary or stake change department gets back to work soon. I had 475 people in attendance (with another 20-30 semi-active people missing) last Sunday.

Sounds like you are ready for a promotion. I am sensing someone on the way to being a CUF MP/TP.

Pres Monson has a summer home in Midway. Unfortunately for the cynics, it is very, very modest, and I understand he very rarely is there. My wife's aunt and uncle live across the street.

I thought they would probably have a picture of it on stalktheprophet.com but I can't find one there.

I could show you a google maps view from above, but that's a little too RF. The home is a single-story brick rambler w/a two-car garage. Looks like it was built in the late 70's or early 80's.

Are the GAs like college coaches? Taking some time off from recruiting and conference prep before fall?

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

So this brings up a question that I have...

I remember being told back in seminary that that Apostles (modern) live the law of consecration. I have never seen this in writing or heard it since. It makes some sense religiously (New Testament) and fraternally (build equality amoung the brethern) but reality and threads about summer homes make me think that it was just a seminary story.

Just wanted to see if any one had any insight or thoughts on the matter.

Sorry if this topic has been talked about before as I am new here.

No. They don't. Unless by law of consecration you mean that they own their own homes and assets and receive a stipend from the church.
