  • Jesus Christ early midlife crisis

Though no one can say for absolute certain, Jesus was roughly 33 years old when he was completed his first terrestrial mission. Not only that, but the bulk of his ministry took place over the space of a couple of years. He did quite a bit in a short period of time, whether one believes in his divinity or not.

Question: When you passed through 33 (or as you get closer to it) did the life of Jesus give you a bit of an early midlife crisis? Did it cause you to reflect on what you had accomplished in your 33 years, or what direction you were going in? Did it make you reevaluate anything about your life and decide to make some changes?

Nope. But it is coming up in December, and I will be 36.

Flash turns 33 today. I was thinking about the messianic aspect of the number this morning.

It make me reflect on how young he was when I passed that date (early last year). I haven't had a midlife crisis yet, but when I do I'll post a picture of the vehicle that results from it.

I had the same thoughts about his age. I remember looking in the mirror at my own face, and realizing that Christ was still a youth. I remember thinking about the quality of my thoughts and what occupied my mind and reflecting that at nearly the same age, Jesus had delivered the Sermon on the Mount.

Was he really that young? I mean, relatively. I know today some people live to be 100 but back then wasn't the average life span much less? Also, people don't grow up nearly as fast today as they did even back in the 1800's so I wonder how fast people grew up back in his day.

I mean, today you have people in their late 20's still living in their parent's basement but back in the early 1800's it wasn't unheard of to be on your own in your late teenage years. Of course I'm talking in generalities here but I'm just trying to say 33 years old today is probably not 33 years old in Christ's day.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

It's pretty remarkable what he accomplished but he did have pretty good genes.

Happy birthday to Flash. I imagine being married to you is the gift that keeps on giving.

                      I'm 33 and I'm still in college. Man am I a failure.

When Julius Caesar was in his 30s he was an officer in Spain. He saw a statue of Alexander the Great and broke into tears because, at 32, Alexander had already conquered the world and he (Caesar) had yet to do anything really that remarkable.

Chin up, lad. It is worth it.

Alexander was poisoned and Caesar was hacked to death.

this explains a lot about the three of us. I'd be interested to know who else on the board is a Saggitarius.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

How do you know wuap and Robin aren't Capricorns? (Of course, there is a 66% chance your assumption is correct).
