7 Wonders is a card game game that I want to try and is coming out soon. The rules say that this one scales up to 7. Unfortunately, the only games that really will play more than 10 are party games and think must of these (including Cranium) suck.
7 Wonders has been out for a while:

It's true that it's tough to find a good party game. Time's Up gets good reviews on BGG, which tends to be very anti-party games. I think Apples to Apples is a good party game. I'm not a huge fan of Bohnanza, other than the cards being funny.

Time's up is the funnest party-type game we have. Wits and Wagers is a fun trivia game that is also fun for non-trivia types. I think I've mentioned both of them in this thread, but here you go again:

Bang! is a great group game that plays well up to 8 (with an expansion) or 7 without the expansion:

Robo Rally has a little bit of a geek factor but plays up to 8 and is fun:

I've looked at Bohnanza. Does it scale to 10 itself, or does that require an expansion?

OK, random question for the board game people here: Have you guys ever read gamerchris.com? I met this guy at random the other day in a board game shop at the new Tanger Outlets in Mebane, NC. He was answering questions left and right in the shop, and he was just a customer. The staff couldn't help me with what I was looking for but he knew everything about it (I was trying to find the game Fluxx), and he told me about his blog. Nice guy.

Mpfunk, I ordered Thunderstone and the expansion for the finderson X-mas. Looking forward to this one!
Thunderstone has really become one of my favorite games lately. I think it really improves on the deck building mechanic. While I like Dominion a lot and still play it, Dominion seems to end once you have got a good deck set up. Thunderstone just gets going once you have a nice deck setup. It is also a little heavier than Dominion. I will keep playing Dominion, but like Thunderstone better.

Haven't played this, but it looks fun, and I'm told that it scales up for adults pretty well.

The Funks talked about this earlier, which makes me think (hope) this will play ok with two, since I'm not sure I'll ever get my wife to play this one.

    Family games:

Kind of a picture version of apples to apples.

Hard to describe this one, but it looked kind of fun.

I'm going with really light games this year (I think Small World is probably the heaviest of the group). I've found that I can get most friends to play games if they're rated down to an 8 yo. Friends with attention spans - 10 and up. I can think of maybe two that I've gotten to play 12 and up games. Oh well...it's all about the social aspect, right?
Small World scales very well. Plays great with 2 and works well with more. I tend to avoid games that don't play well with 2 as we don't have gamer friends. Next year I would get stone age for your son. Great with 2 and he would be old enough.

    Eurotrash? Isn't it Ameritrash?

You've really got to get M44, Robin. I've had great games with my son, who loves it and is now starting to get interested in the story. Each scenario has a little description of what happened--last time we played, my son said "It's really fun reading through how the battle really happened." Just a great game.

Hey, I found THIS place to download a version of Race for the Galaxy online, or by yourself against AI opponents. I play this version of Race a couple of times a day (games go really fast without the board maintenance), and the AI is very good. Watch how the AI plays, and you will figure out some good strategies. The unfortunate thing about the download is that now I don't ever get out the cards. Faith and I compete against each other online. We'll still pick up the new expansions, as they are released, because it is one of favorites, but the online version is very neat.
I have already downloaded that program. It is great and the computer is damn near impossible for me to beat. I have the Alchemy expansion, but haven't played it. Seaside is the expansion that gets a ton of play. I've read good things about Prosperity, but I doubt I will pick it up.

The main problem with Thunderstone is actually the box for it sucks. However, the expansion gives you nice tabbed dividers and a better box for storage. Both the expansion and the original fit nicely in the next box and it is quite portable. It is basically the size of the Race for the Galaxy box, but a lot heavier because you have about 700 cards in it.
