If you are fighting in close range, an assault rifle loses every day anyway. Shotgun or bust.

Best assault rifle for close and crowded maps is, by far, the TAR. Use the silencer to reduce recoil if you need to (I do). The TAR has the greatest damage ratio when you take into account firing speed.

I rotate between the TAR, the ACR and the M16 depending on the map. For longer range maps, the M16 with stopping power is awesome. The FAMAS is supposed to be good too, but I never really liked it. Felt weird somehow.

I rock the TAR on almost every map. I run it with FMJ and Stopping Power, and the thing is a beast. I have been working the ACR on longer range maps, but I will usually go sniper (just for the fun of it) if I would otherwise consider the ACR.

I'm going to get the Fall camo for the TAR before I prestige again. I'm almost there.

I was playing with the M4 last night for the first time in ages and I think I might like it better than the ACR. Am I wrong?

yes, you are absolutely wrong.

This last prestige I exclusively stuck with the M4 for until level 40, just for some background.

The M4 has a lot of kick. Put a silencer on and it helps, but then you took an underpowered rifle and made it more underpowered. It could take 7-8 shots to put someone down. After thinking, "I really like this gun" I started to struggle about level 40 and began to switch up my classes. I put a SCAR on real quick one game and I was killing people 2-3 shots. I remember announcing mid game that the M4 was a piece of shit. And I don't even like the SCAR. The ACR is superior in power and less kick with about the same range. The ACR is by far my favorite assault rifle on the game.

Could be. It may boil down to the accuracy deal. I am very accurate (was at 22% at one point before I started to spin full speed with a saw unloading the entire clip for fun) and maybe the "spray" nature of the M4 is what is making the difference. I can only anecdotally say that I kill quicker with the ACR than with the M4.

I am in the middle ground on this ground. I like the M4. I think this came from my love affair with COD4. I still have an M4 in one my classes. I use the FMJ with it and I can rip with that thing. I can't say I like it more than the ACR though. I keep it in another class so when I am not feeling it with the ACR, I just switch to the M4. I do agree with much of what Coach has said except I like it much better than the SCAR. If the SCAR had a bigger clip then maybe I would have a change of mind. What I won't do is add a silencer to the M4. You might as well piss in the wind.

Yeah...that silencer on the M4 is crap. I unloaded a clip on a dude last night and didn't kill him. Rate of Fire is slow and inaccurate. Boo.

I hit lvl 15 last night, as that was my goal. (Started at lvl 8)

Tonight...lvl 20!

Also...if some folks would prod I think DT is almost at the verge of getting a headset and joining the fun.

I sucked last night....that happens I guess when you don't play for over a week. I couldn't connect with the group last night which was frustrating as my router seems to be acting up. Hopefully ill get it fixed tonight.

That was fun for me though, on wasteland, when you guarded the bunker while I got the chopper gunner. They kept spawning right where I was shooting, that was hilarious. 22 kills in about 20 seconds, I wish I could see better who is aiming a stinger at me.
