This post is so unlike all the others in the thread. I really enjoy the older comedies, where they actually rely on witty dialog instead of just insulting each other or using crude gags. Some of my favorites include What's Up Doc and The Great Race. Peter Sellers as Clouseau always makes me laugh, too.Originally posted by happyone View PostI'll mention some oldies -
Bringing Up Baby
Arsenic and Old Lace
Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World ( I can never remember how many Mads there should be)
any Chaplin flim you care to mention
I hated Holy Grail the first time I saw it. My friends raved about it and quoted large sections of it before I saw it. Then, when I did see it, a bunch of us went to a drive-in and sat on top of the car with a crummy speaker that you could barely hear, and the picture on the screen wasn't all that bright. It was quite a letdown. I liked it a lot better after actually being able to see and hear it another time.
Another movie I really enjoy is Casablanca. There are a lot of clever scenes intertwined in that one.
