Are you talking about the end where one of the characters all of a sudden turned into Chris Matthews thinking about Barack Obama.Originally posted by beefytee View PostAnyone else disappointed with the episode last night?
I don't want to give anything away. It was the first time I rolled my eyes at the plot. Hopefully they are able to tidy things up some. It was a little to out there for me.
And I did enjoy the SNL sketch. It had me laugh last night when people were actually eavesdropping.

A faux Spike TV promo for the show. It'll probably get taken down for copyright violations, but it's very funny.

Of course you remained stoic. What else would Grantham do?Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI have been informed that Shirley Maclaine will be added to next season's cast as Cora's mother. I am most pleased by the prospect of her sparring with Maggie Smith. And while I remained stoic throughout, the women in my family were in tears during last night's episode. War is hell. So is impotence, or so I've heard.

Did you see the touching scene between PAC and myslef, er, I mean Lord Grantham and Bates? The fulcrum upon which the entire show seems to be turning.

Excellent! Bates is the coolest guy on the show, and his fashion sense is spot on. You're hired.Originally posted by creekster View PostYour valet reporting for service sir. I took the personality test and found out I am Bates, your valet.

Your valet reporting for service sir. I took the personality test and found out I am Bates, your valet.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostWow. Until a couple of days ago I was pretty much unaware of Downton Abbey, much less this thread (sorry I missed Parrothead's excellent Summon Mrs. PAC notice). But I read about the upcoming Season 2 premiere tomorrow night and decided to watch it. I asked my wife if she had seen it, and it turns out while I was in Provo yesterday she had watched all seven episodes of Season 1 and absolutely loved them. Moreover, all my daughters, including PH's wife, have been totally into it, and I can see why. I was informed I HAD to watch Season 1 before beginning Season 2, so....
Great storyline, excellent dialogue and a fascinating time in history. I've seen the first three episodes of Season 1 already and hope to finish the season by the end of the day tomorrow, at which point I can begin Season 2. Great stuff.
And I intend to start looking for a valet on Monday.

I enjoy the series very much, and this send-up is great. I especially like when everyone does their "looks", which really do play a big part of the show.

How were you able to watch Season 2? Is it available online, or do you hop across the Pond to watch the telly?Originally posted by BigPiney View PostJust so everyone knows, Season 2 was great. Can't wait till season 3.

Matthew Crawley, not to be confused with another nobleman we know with a near identical name.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostI've taken on a crisp English accent and I find myself wearing officers uniforms around the house, so it came as no surprise that the Downton Abbey Personality Test revealed that I am, in fact, the Earl of Grantham.
The test is brief and only mildly amusing; don't bother if you haven't begun watching the series.

I'm glad I pulled all of you away from Storage Wars and Swamp Loggers, at least temporarily.
