  • The Dark Knight Rises

For those that recall the recent message board hoopla over "one of the greatest movies of all time" (), prepare for another wave of hyperbole...

Christopher Nolan announces the new title for the next installment: "The Dark Knight Rises." I assume this isn't a phallic reference.

    A few tidbits of confirmation:

    1. New villain will NOT be Riddler or Mr. Freeze
    2. There will be no 3D cuts made...strictly IMAX and HD
    3. Christopher Nolan wears a vest

In my mind I like to imagine that there will eventually be an actual director vs. director fistfight between a representative of the opponents of 3D (Christopher Nolan, of course) and 3D's supporters (King of the World James Cameron.) The future of cinema is at stake! It's Batman vs. the Navi!
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

This is the best news of all. Though I'll admit that I actually liked Avatar in 3D. It wasn't gimmicky 3D. Still, I'm sick of the whole thing and wish 3D would just go away.

3D is the best poster here, and you ought to apologize.

Avatar was the most fun I've had in a movie theater in a long time. It was an experience, rather simply being than a souped up version of what I can watch at home with a HDTV, surround sound system and a Blu-ray DVD.

I'm all for more 3D movies if they can execute the technology as well as Avatar did.

Piranha 3D definitely deserved to be in 3D.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I agree with this. After Avatar I saw two other movies in "3D" (Up and Clash of the Titans) and it was a gimmicky mess. If you are going to do 3D, go for it whole hog! No more wandy-dandy gimichy crap.

I'm excited about this film. I loved TDK (although it ran 30 minutes too long for me) especially the Joker parts that were left unanswered.

As I understand it, the major difference between Avatar and Clash of the Titans is the 3D technology. Or, more accurately, whether the movie is made with 3D in mind at the outset or whether 3D is just "pasted" on afterwards. Avatar is obviously the former, whereas the 3D in Clash of the Titans was thrown on top of it at the last minute.

Too bad, because Michael C Hall would make a dynamite Riddler.

Still, I'm glad this is the final film of the Nolan "Batman" reboot.

BTW I loved TDK the summer it came out; couldn't watch it all the way through a year after it was released on DVD; but I gave it another try in August and enjoyed it. Quite good, but not GOAT by any stretch.

Some of you may think what I'm about to say is ridiculous, but I stand by it: Jackass 3D had the best use I've seen of 3D technology.

Anne Hatthoway to play Cat Woman and the main villain will be Bane.

The "Inception" bro will be Bane, right?

Anne Hathaway is an interesting choice, and I'm really curious to see what Nolan does with it. I really loved Michelle Pfeiffer in "Batman Returns" (which still may be my favorite Batman movie).

Is he trying to see how much he can screw up the third installment?
