  • The Big Door Prize. A machine that predicts one's potential mysteriously appears at a grocery store and a small town goes crazy for it. Stars the Irish dude from the IT guys. I've seen two episodes and I'd describe its feel as a cross between Ted Lasso and Severance.

I noticed in the credits that it's based on a novel by M.O. Walsh. I liked his debut novel so I picked this one up.

Edit: wait, maybe it was Revenge of the Nerds he was in.
Ted McGinley is great in this show.

Agree. He unfairly took a lot of shit in that first season and I kept waiting for something to happen. Like he snaps or an affair was revealed. He did stand up for himself once. That was gratifying.

        • You should watch Still, A Michael J. Fox Movie. It's a very well done biopic that follows his extraordinary career path with a lot of focus on Parkinson's Disease. That element may be off-putting for many, but it's interesting, informative, and inspiring. He remains quick-witted and funny. The movie is done very cleverly, patching in clips from his movies that serve as excellent and entertaining desriptors of the real-life events he has gone and is going through. Superbly done.

          • Finale of Ted Lasso was satisfying. I'll miss the show but I have a suspicion Apple will be throwing a ton of money at Jason Sudekis to either write one more season, or more likely to create a spin off. I think another season is a bad idea but a spin-off could be good. Ted Lasso is Apple's crown jewel and I imagine subscriptions could drop off significantly with it ending.

Wait, this is the last season? I did not know that.

We haven't started watching it yet. Hearing mixed reviews.

                  • Am I the only one that wishes they would just continue the series without Ted? He had become my least favorite character by the end of it anyways. Would love to see how the rest of the characters go on without him.

I think we'll see a spin-off like that for sure. Anecdotally, Apple doesn't have another show that's even a close second to Ted Lasso in terms of bringing in and retaining subscribers. I'd imagine they will be offering a Phoebe Waller-Bridge type of deal for the creative team.

                      • My guess is that they're already working on a spin-off called AFC Richmond, chronicling the tenure of Roy as manager. Rebecca retains a controlling interest, but who buys her minority stake? The man who was just forced to sell West Ham, Rupert.

I'm not sure what role Nate would have in the show, honestly. He got better than he deserved the last two episodes, but hilariously insecure Nathan is a thing of the past.

I was shocked to hear that others haven't liked this season. Some people, man. That's like complaining about pizza.

This season was okay (although I loved the last two episodes). I think Sudeikis knew he was done with the show some time ago, and they crammed a lot into the third season. It didn't go great, but I still watched it.

Yeah they weren't all nail-biters, but I enjoy spending time with about every character on the show regardless.

                              • Ted changes a lot in Season 3 by design. The things many viewers liked best about him were actually his defense mechanisms. Many lament that he seems flat in Season 3, but I'd argue that he was finding peace and no longer needed to constantly solve the problems of others to hide from his own. Ted was a fundamentally unhappy person that nobody realized was dangerously so. Anthony Bourdain with a whistle. One of the brilliant aspects of the show for me was how it normalized accepting help for men when it comes to mental health. Talking to a professional, having a group of friends to run problems by and check in with, and having a chosen group of friends to call family. Super happy, funny Ted was fake. The subdued Ted of Season 3 was a man who was addressing his problems head on and was better for it. Same goes for almost every character. Sometimes the work isn't as entertaining as recognizing the problems which is what the first two seasons were about. I think that's essentially why some people found the tone of the show so different in the final season.
