    Willie Mays

Maybe the greatest baseball player of my lifetime. His catch in the '54? World Series is legendary! I'm sure it is on YouTube if you haven's seen it.

I didn't realize he was still with us. Most of the ball players of my youth have already departed

    He was 93

He was the Giants when I was a growing up

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

This one is a bummer. Buddy the Elf smashing up houses in the north pole last night.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

              • Phil Donahue, at 88. He looked old to me in the 80's, I would have thought he was much older or already passed.

As a kid, Donahue was a punchline. Talked about as an unserious showman. But in various clips I have seen over the years with him, regardless of the guest, he seemed to engage them with serious questions. I can't imagine any daytime folks doing that today.

Being the classical liberal that I am, I am obligated to mention the greatest interviews he ever did was with Milton Friedman. Such an amazing platform for his ideas. Those are great interviews.

                  • Barbara Smith the relief society President of the church was interviewed by him when the church opposed era. That would be interesting. Me of the better daytime talk show hosts. Liberal in many ways himself.

                    • What a week!

Maggie Smith - probably most famous for her role as Mrs MacGonagal (SP) in the Harry Potter Movies. I first remember seeing her in the movie "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" in the early 70s

Chris Christopherson - singer/song writer, actor, helicopter pilot - I remember watching "Heaven's Gate" a week or so after it opened in a 500 seat theater and I and the person I went with were about the only 2 people in attendance.

and today a couple of great hall of fame level athletes

                      Pete Rose and Dikembe Mutombo
As we all know Mr. Rose was banned from even being considered for the Baseball HF because of gambling, but if only athletic accomplishments were considered, he definetely should be there.

What I remember about Dikemeo was his finger wag after blocking a shot

All but Dikembe were in their 80s, but Dikembe was only 58 - brain cancer

I may be small, but I'm slow.
