That looks like it would come off and you'd lose it pretty easily. Does it just wrap around your wrist?Originally posted by filsdepac View PostI haven't used it yet but I have a friend that works at Jawbone that has talked this up:

I just updated my apps including my favorite app. LDS Gospel Library app now has feature films to download. Johnny Lingo is now a part of the Library. This app just keeps getting better and better.
In all seriousness this is a pretty cool idea. My son loves watching movies on my iPad. Some good children church movies would be a nice change up from Cars and Mary effing Poppins. I'm just not sure if there are any good church videos.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

Shazam does the same thing, but after not using it in a while I did a few days ago and it has become 90s-era aggressive in its spamminess. So maybe I'll check out Soundhound.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostI'm not sure anyone has mentioned this one but Soundhound is pretty cool. If you hear a song and don't know the title or artist just let your phone listen and it will tell you song and artist.

I have an idea for an app, and I've been looking around for ways to learn how to program it. I have no programming experience, and I've been looking around for a way that I can do it myself without having to hire a programmer. It looks like RunRev's LiveCode might be the easiest program to learn, and it generally gets good reviews. Have any of you had any experience with LiveCode or does anyone know a way for beginners to program an app?Not that, sickos.

I have no experience with LiveCode but Stanford's free on-line course on developing iPhone software is really good.Originally posted by thesaint258 View PostI have an idea for an app, and I've been looking around for ways to learn how to program it. Of course, it assumes that you have some background in programming."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Shazam-free only allows something like 5 searches a month or something stupid like that. Soundhound either has a much higher limit (I've never reached it in casual searches), or its unlimited.Originally posted by woot View PostShazam does the same thing, but after not using it in a while I did a few days ago and it has become 90s-era aggressive in its spamminess. Thanks, Uncle Ted. I'll check it out tonight. I don't have a programming background, but who knows, I might be able to get something out of it.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI have no experience with LiveCode but Stanford's free on-line course on developing iPhone software is really good.

A few apps that I really like:
Tripit: Fantastic travel organizer. Create an online account and register your e-mail address and then when you have a trip coming up you create a trip entry in your account. Then when you get your flight/hotel/rental car info you simply forward to plans@tripit.com. It detects your e-mail address and reformats everything into a beautiful and convenient trip summary (flights, times, confirmation numbers, maps, etc.) that you can access on your iPhone (or Android).
GateGuru: Simple but convenient. When you land at an airport and you want to grab a bite before your next connection just tell it where you are (airport, terminal) and it will give you a summary of all of the restaurants in your part of the airport, including ratings. The ratings don't seem very accurate, but it is nice to know exactly what is nearby or the next terminal over.
TurboScan: I love this app. Need to scan a document to PDF format? Just fire up this app and take a photo and it works just like a scanner. Converts to black and white (if you want) and lets crop and adjust the contrast. Then it converts to either JPG or PDF, names the file, and e-mails it for you. You can also do multi-page PDF files. Super easy to use. Unless you need a high-res copy, no more need for a scanner.Last edited by Jeff Lebowski; 12-05-2011, 08:17 AM."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right?
