What that length is I have no idea. It is probably 12 months, so this would not be an issue. But if it were closer to 18 months then we could potentially have some issues. Of course the girls going on missions don't seem to have any issues with this that I know of, so maybe this is just a figment of my imagination. I just don't want anything to mess with byu football.
I think the big announcement at GC will be official sanction of Steve Young missions. Serve 4 years at the Lord's University, but these Elders can date and marry sisters that are also serving in the Utah Provo BYU Athletics mission.

Seriously. WTF happened to the elite spirits being held back to the end? I guess they’re so elite they don’t need to serve real missions.

At one time (about 1982-84/85) the church did have 18-month missions for Elders which obviously included BYU football players. If I remember correctly, they just stopped the clock while the person was in the mission field; some just missed one season while others two.

          • Lots of rumors mentioned in the latest mormonland podcast that the tribune does.
2 hr seems like a done deal. Speculation on the details of implemtation.
Pick your adventure mission was another.
One I hadn’t heard was a civil marriage first then sealing rumor.
Also one on the temple script changing. But that wouldn’t likely be mentioned at gc.

Condensed temple sessions is something I've heard. Can't remember who told me or where I saw that. But I agree that is something probably reserved for a letter to Stake Presidents and Bishops.

Oooh that would be awesome. It just takes too long at the moment. I live 4 hours away from the closest temple so getting the session down to an hour would be a huge help. As it is, I just don't go. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Sent to bishops but then retracted a few weeks later.

pretty sure i retain the title of most temple going CSer. granted, not sure that's a brag around these parts, but you take the wins you can get. get that sucker down to an hour or so, i'd go 2+ times a month.

                          • So my daughter's friend is engaged and she called the local temple to schedule a wedding. They told her that they couldn't schedule it right now and that she should "call back after general conference".

I am wondering if they are going to change things so that you no longer do regular weddings in the temple and now do sealing after a civil ceremony like they do outside the US. Would make sense.

Would be nice to have that option, but kinda sad if that were the only option.
