And following up with Jordan being pushed to criticize the tendencies of the right by Russell Brand. I would have never guessed this would turn out to be one of my favorite interviews, but it's fantastic.

I do not like him or his style. Clearly I struck a nerve. I’m surprised his male snowflake take is popular here. Maybe I shouldn’t be because I also find Ben Shapiro annoying and whiny and know he is well regarded here.

Don’t worry, I still love most of you.
He probably pisses you off because he's right most of the time. He also pisses off "liberals" because they can't fire ad hominem attacks at him about his religion or lack of credentials. I love listening to JP mostly because he agrees with me (I felt like SU saying that) that humans can't go through thousands and tens of thousands of years of biological evolution through an agrarian society and not end up with innate differences between the two dominant genders. Men and women are different biologically and neurologically and to not believe that fact is dangerous to science and society.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Wyoming university slogan about cowboys triggers race, gender debate

A marketing campaign adopted by the University of Wyoming in Laramie centered on the slogan: "The world needs more cowboys" has run into trouble as faculty members and Native American groups say it excludes women and people of color.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Easy solution. Just add this to the slogan: " . . . and cowboys need more cowgirls and Indians!"
                    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Finally got around to watching this. F-bombs when used judiciously are hilarious. Their increasing overuse is a tragedy.

I enjoyed that. Provides a good example at what we all need to learn to do better. We are constantly taught and told what the other side thinks. It requires constant vigilance, and we will still often fall into that trap.

I enjoyed it at first, but after thinking about it for a while something bothered me. She seems to be saying that she came to realize that men can actually be victims too. While this was a good realization on her part, it seems to me that we are having an ongoing race to see who can claim the highest victim status. Accepting that others have struggles too is good, but I am waiting for the Ted talk that starts people on the path to quit looking for victim status altogether.
One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

I looked up a few other appearances. They go over this topic a bit on the Rubin Report. The word victim has become overly politicized. Women are treated uniquely unfairly, men are treated uniquely unfairly. The recipient of unfair treatment can rightly be labeled victim. Victimhood as status symbol or never ending right to restitution are where the complications arise.

Peterson on this podcast goes into a deep discussion of how his family dealt with his daughter's prolonged illness. He clearly delineates the line that should not be crossed. Probably the most personal interview I've seen him give (this is part 2 of 2).

I'm am becoming an ever-increasing fan of the long form discussions available where there is no time limit or winner/loser scenario. What is the world coming to when Ben Shapiro and Sam Harris can sit down and have a polite thoughtful discussion? Way more interesting when both sides are at least trying to repress their innate desire to count points. You can see them consciously making the choice to not revert to debate tactics.
