They also just lost the brother of two former BYU players and a kid who played 2 minutes up the road from campus in Puka Nacua. Lost might be a stretch, but the fact that he never gave BYU a chance speaks volumes. I know SMR thinks he sucks, but the rest of the country feels differently.

(Side note on Puka, the Utah rivals guy was beating the drum that Utah wasn't out of it. Which we all knew they were. Of course after Puka picks UW, he makes some unsubstantiated claim about how Utah made major headway late and Pukas decision was a lot more difficult than we think. I love that people pay to hear that garbage from these recruiting guys).
This is like the Utah version of the Nacua father's dying wish to be for his sons to play football for the Cougars of BYU! Basically print Viagra for Cougarboarders.

I guess Conover graduated early. According to his Twitter, he’s headed on his mission now. He’ll be home for spring camp 2021.

Beanpole who needs to put on 30lbs, so he’s probably serving somewhere in Central/South America or the Philippines where he’s bound to lose 20 lbs walking everyday for 2 years.

Silver Lining is: in Central/South America he'll keep his arm strength up throwing rocks at stray dogs. So he's got that going for him...which is nice.

Paraguay. Seems like a place he could gain some weight. Then again, I see pretty much everywhere as a place I could gain weight.

A bunch of commitments rolled in this weekend. Anyone know if these young bucks are worth getting excited about?

It sounded like the QB has some legitimate other offers. The rest may or may not be better. I think the talent level at BYU is slowly trending up under Kalani. Perhaps it is the happy thoughts so prevalent in the warmer months and longer sunshine of summer but I think the higher talent will manifest itself this year on the football field. I think BYU will win more games and look better doing so.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Our current commit list has some decent players and a lot of projects:

Sol-Jay Maiava is a great get. Michigan and Virginia really went after him hard. Other offers included Oregon, UTah, Utah State, and Hawaii.
Bodie Schoonover- BYU was on him early, but Utah, Nebraska, UCLA have all offered recently. His YM advisor (a certain poster who has 3 kids of the same age) thinks BYU is in for a battle until the end.

Those are the two stars so far.

Bruce Garrett- RB from Texas, reminds me of Drew Phillips.
Logan Pili- Family has been solid for BYU
Preston Rex- again family name, we will see how good he is. Much smaller than his brother
Josh Wilson- have to offer QB1s little bro
Dean Jones, Alex Muti, Devin Downing, Nuku Helu, Isaiah Perez, Josh Larsen (Not a single P5 offer between them)

For this class to be better than average, we need the following:

Andrew Gentry- OT. He is on the level of Haloti Ngata when it comes to national recruits. Right now it is down to BYU and Michigan, he is choosing by the end of the month. Currently ranked as a top 10 O-lineman in the country. 40+ offers including NOtre Dame, Alabama, Florida, Miami, Oregon, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee, Stanford. Really can go where ever he wants. I really like BYUs chances here.

Ioholani Raass- Utah State was on him first so BYU has some making up to do. Has offers from Colorado, Wazzou, Boise

Choe Bryant-Strother- Eli Bryants little bro. I don't like our chances but I know ELi is pushing him hard. Currently holds 26 offers from all the top schools in the country. Nebraska and TAMU seem to be the schools to beat.

Tate Romney- BYU would really have to screw this up. Arizona, Colorado and Cal have all made a late push. He has offers from just about the entire west coast. I think hes as close to a lock as it gets.

Nate Ritchie- Lone Peak kid with a grundle of offers. Again I think BYU is the front runner and should be able to close him. But he does really seem to like UCLA and ASU.

Nicolas Session- Reminds me a lot of Dayan, can play safety or corner. Not a ton of interest so far outside of BYU and Utah State but I think he picks up some serious offers this season and probably leaves the state.

If BYU can land a handful of the kids on the wish-list this class might be ok.
