I hadn't seen this until now. e.e. cummings is one of my favorites. I have seduced Mrs. wuapinmon with cummings many times. This poem is a solid homage.

        A+!

            I couldn't be bothered. I hate poetry.

                Footprints...

If I hear that damn poem "Footprints" recited one more time in Sacramental Meeting, I am leaving the church...

I knew you were looking for an out!

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

                      Isn't that by C.S. Lewis?

I thought it was T.S. Elliott. Or maybe Poe?

                          If he were Mormon:

"The Battle Hymn of Elder J. Alfred Prufrock"

LET us go then, you and I,
When the pamphlet is spread out against the tablecloth
                          Like a tract unfolded upon a table;
Let us go, through certain half-deserted streets,
                          The muttering retreats
Of restless investigators in one-room cheap hovels
And questionable restaurants with garbage pails:
Streets that follow like a tedious argument
                          Of theological intent
To lead you to a baptismal covenant …
Let us get on with it,
Let us go and make our visit.

In the room, the elders come and go
                          Talking of Mahonri Moriancumr.

Well it darn sure wasn't Kristofferson.

When I was a freshman at Ricks, I was on the newspaper staff for a semester. One night, I get a call from the editor who is in a panic and needs something by the next morning. I wrote a cheezy poem for her and it was published in the paper that week.

Fast forward 15 years, and my wife is the YW president. She's looking at some YW site and sees this poem posted online and women commenting on how touching it was. I knew I'd be famous someday.

I'm not posting it here because 1) it has my name on it, and 2) I don't want you people to know I'm capable of writing such drivel.

I've written a few cowboy poems, but none of them are funny. I have a hired man who recites cowboy poetry all the time. If Elko wasn't such a crap hole in January, I'd take a trip out there for the cowboy gathering.
