According to the narrative Trump supporters are racist and have no human decency, so therefore this is out of the ordinary and would qualify as NEWS. But you are right in the sense that in the world of accurate and fair news reporting this shouldn't be news.

He will win those states no matter what.

A strong position on borders on immigration isn't inherently racist, however, white racists do like Trump because of those policies and Trump's support of rural America. Doesn't mean he is courting the white racists that are somehow going to bring him to victory.

Trump was never accused of being a racist before running for President. Only since. Trump has a black man and an Asian woman in his cabinet. He has actually courted African Americans and wants to revitalize inner cities:

He knows that if he can improve his support among African Americans, that it's game over for dems. That's why the left went berzerk over Kanye. They know what will happen if there is a significant shift of black voters to Trump and he doesn't need a ton of black support, just a little more.

Courting racists can only hurt him, not help him. He's a dealmaker, not some ideologue. He only cares about winning. This whole racist attack is garbage.

                Just wow.

Let's set aside the whole history of the democrat party, but now there is the Farrakhan wing, the anti-semites, the Antifa types, the communists (they do vote and they liked Bernie, but voted for Hillary in the general), flag-burning losers, welfare abusers, and more.

See above about my questions regarding why is racism an effective and important part of Trump's strategy. It's logically not smart. Explain to me why you think it is.
A plus for creativity, but you're really reaching

Lol, the "Antifa types." Do you realize it's not a massive organized movement? It's a term that applies to the half to 2 dozen crusty punk protestors who show at racist rallies. They weren't in the public consciousness until Charlottesville, when Trumpers tried to push blame on them. Those motherfuckers don't vote. And card carrying commies don't vote democrat. Not even for Bernie.
Welfare abusers? Do you realize not many people abuse welfare? It's pretty hard to do that. You can find some extreme examples online, I'm sure, but it's not a big group. People who receive welfare are single moms with kids and it is time-limited for a few years.

If the news media made a deal of finding some Trump people who yelled at nazis and acted like it was unusual and unexpected, I’m sure Crockett would be offended.

                  • You guys are hilarious. So focused on your own point of view and unwilling or unable to see anything beyond that.

Trump may not be a racist, but he certainly has emboldened them. I'm not sure that was his intent, but maybe it was. Personally, I just think he's a politician who didn't want to say anything to anger them or chase them off so that he could get their votes. He knows they wouldn't vote for the other side, so he just wanted them to vote - knowing that if they did they would vote for him. As I said - he may not be racist. But he might be - and he certainly isn't doing anything to prove he isn't.

So many people have taken the approach of stating that Trump voters are racists. It has been reported both explicitly and implicitly that Trump is a racist, as are his supporters. So when there is an incident of Trump supporters shouting down white nationalists - then you bet it is news. It's a change when compared to everything else being reported. And it SHOULD provide some level of hope that 65 million people voting for Trump does not equal 65 million racist Americans.

Frank - it's OK for you to say "Good for them. Our country needs more of that." I don't know who this Jack character is, and I don't care. If he's a dick, he's a dick. That doesn't change the fact that putting white nationalists in their place in a good thing - regardless of who does it. And it's OK to point out the occasional good things people you disagree with do. It's OK to give them credit and find places where you have common ground. It really is more helpful to do that than to find ONLY reasons to argue and fight.

It's a problem for the party now:

Self-described Nazis and white supremacists are running as Republicans across the country. The GOP is terrified.

In at least five state and national races across the country, the Republican Party is dealing with an uncomfortable problem. Their party’s candidates are either a card-carrying Nazi, a Holocaust denier, a proud white supremacist, or all of the above.

In North Carolina, for example, GOP officials are stuck with Russell Walker, a white supremacist running for the state House of Representatives. According to his personal website (littered with the n-word), he believes that “the jews are NOT semitic they are satanic as they all descend from Satan.”

Republicans in the state have regrets. “This is a very Democratic district, one that we failed to keep our eye on,” Dallas Woodhouse, executive chair of the North Carolina GOP, told me in an email. “However, we can’t stop him from running.”

In Illinois, meanwhile, the Republican Party shrugged off Arthur Jones, a candidate for the state’s 3rd Congressional district who boasted of his membership in the American Nazi Party. But Jones won the GOP primary, and now party officials, including ones who called Jones “morally reprehensible” and “a complete nutcase,” are scrambling to launch a write-in campaign. Jones’s campaign website features a section called “Holocaust?” in which he argues that the “idea that six million Jews, were killed by the National Socialist government of Germany, in World War II, is the biggest, blackest lie in history.”

In Virginia, the chair of the state GOP resigned earlier this month, reportedly because of alt-right leaning, pro-Confederate candidate Corey Stewart’s win in the Republican primary. But even Stewart had to disavow Wisconsin’s Paul Nehlen, who is running to replace Speaker Paul Ryan. Nehlen’s too racist for Twitter and even for Gab, the preferred social media platform of the alt-right. Meanwhile, a California Republican running for Congress has been making appearances on neo-Nazi podcasts and argues on his campaign website that “diversity” is a Jewish plot. (The California GOP has disavowed him.)

But in a year when the left is energized in opposition to Trump, particularly by his policies toward minority groups and immigrants, and as the GOP tries to hang on to their majorities in Congress and state houses around the country, state party officials say they do not need racist fringe candidates running for office. None of these candidates is expected to win in the general election this fall, but they are going to give liberals on the hunt for examples of simmering neo-Nazi and neo-Confederate rhetoric at least five places to point.

Are you serious?!! They find 3 kooks running in state congressional races across the entire country and this is "Nazis and white supremacists are running as Republicans across the country!"? You know how many wierdos run for state congressional offices across the country in ALL parties? LOTS. I could cherry pick some weird dems, too. And the GOP as a party wants nothing to do with these guys, i.e., they are policing their own. The Illinois guy runs in a district that hasn't had a Republican rep since the 70s; no sane republican is going to waste their time and money running in a district like that. C'mon, man!
