That's just my lived experience, you can have your own and declare your own bullshit of the fact that I'm not a supporter of religious authority leveraged pedfelia. But to each his own
Just like to point out that you are applying the social mores on age, relative to today, to 1830. People in that day and age got married and had children at that age all of the time. It doesn't happen today obviously, but stop with the moral high ground.

I'm not condoning or agreeing with anything that he did/said happened.

I would like to see more examples if 19th century marriages of men in their upper 30s to girls barely entering puberty. Thanks in advance for the examples of how common this was back then (not to mention multiple wives, some of which were already married to other men).

This is such a tired apologetic argument.

      • Mr. Bean, after reading your posts in this thread, I don't believe that Joseph Smith and/or the LDS Church are standing in your way. You seem to be standing in your own way.
We all trust our own unorthodoxies.

Ok. I have no idea what that means.

I'm not your bitch. Do your own work. Show me examples of NO 30 year old men in the 19th century marrying girls barely entering puberty.

            I'll hold.

My post was not an attempt to call you a "bad guy," and it's unfortunate you took it that way. Jay's advice is good advice. There is a difference between being cleverer and being earnest. Check out Northwestcougs posts for an idea as to how to be something more than just clever.

                  • Isn't Mr Bean in a phase that anyone goes through as they try to process the teenaged marriages and polyandry of JS?

I love being Mormon, but I condemn polygamy, polyandry, and most especially pedophilia. Until I have to support the three Ps to retain church privileges, I like where I'm at.

Have you heard the latest? Joseph once pulled Emma out of the tub to continue arguing with her about where she put his divining rod.

Was it a tub-shower combo? If not, then that probably isn't even illegal.

She would dump water from a bucket over her head, causing it to "shower down" upon her. So, yeah.

Whatever it is, I might need to hit the history books again. A diving rod is a new one for me.
