Random stuff worth reading on the internet thread
Originally posted by YOhio View PostI'm not terribly familiar with the transgendered community, but I really have a hard time seeing why the reporters disclosure to the investor was so bad. It was the truth and it was public information, as was her falsified credentials. I read a few of the criticisms and still haven't come around on it yet. I think it's too easy to say that her suicide was the result of potentially being "outed," when her status as a transgendered female seemed to be well-known in Gilbert. It may well have been that she was fearful of being exposed for having lied about her professional background.
Still, as I step back, I do wonder how much relevance her transgender status has to the story. On the one hand, the entire story is about obfuscation, so it seems like another piece of the puzzle. On the other hand, if Hannan had merely discovered that she was a closeted homosexual, that probably wouldn't have made it into the story, as her sexual orientation isn't relevant at all. And therein, i think, lies the outrage from the TG community--they want the same protections and respect which are currently being given to homosexuals.Last edited by Donuthole; 01-21-2014, 06:21 PM.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

I read the story. As a golfer I even remember Gary McCord making his comments on the air. The "story" had a tone about it that was off putting. It didn't draw me in, and as it progressed it became a bit too personal between subject and writer. Ultimately, I didn't feel it was worth my time to have read it, and I rarely, if ever, feel that way.Last edited by clackamascoug; 01-21-2014, 05:46 PM.

I counted four very poor golf analogies in your post. A snowman to be sure.

FDA approves pill camera to screen colon
A kinder, gentler approach to one of the most dreaded exams in medicine is on the way: U.S. regulators have cleared a bite-size camera to help screen patients who have trouble with colonoscopies.
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories...02-03-13-30-46One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

Here's a Q & A with Shaun White from Snowboarder Magazine. It's pretty revealing I thought. It gets into the dynamic of the snowboarding community and Shaun White's relationship with the tour and other snowboarders. If any of you saw the documentary about Kevin Pearce called Crash Reel this Q & A is really interesting.

Apparently the world lost an artistic savant last year. This article provides a look into short the life of an amazingly talented person. The included video clip is also worth watching.
