  • Went off on NFL protest why some people think it is ok, then how some people compare watching NFL on Sundy to pornogrophy. Someone else said he is. Not on that spiritual of a level himself.

    • On the same subject (see prop 8 discussion in dumpster fire BYU football thread) I just finished attending my first sacrament meeting in some time (nephew’s non-homecoming homecoming in Mendon, UT) Stake President presiding and conducting. Took it upon himself to say the following before and after the speakers: “Marriage is between a man and a woman..(pause)...MARRIAGE IS BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN.”

I felt the spirit. It was palpable.

Lol. It's Mendon, UT. The SP was probably exercising a lot of personal restraint.

        • We had a 3rd hour lesson on religious freedom in HPG last week. It went about as you would expect. Apparently the whole world is going to hell and it’s all the millennial fault.

Just wait until next year, when they get to discuss conference talks by the Q12 hardliners for 2 weeks of the month instead of just one.

Oh jeez that's horrible. Our Ward did this activity recently.

I know the parents of the Bishop. Longtime residents of Tokyo. Very sad.

                      • Lesson other day on self reliance and someone talked of how kids Don,t gave as many opportunities to work as they used too. People had chores before calves to feed and the like. I am sure most people give there lds responsibility even in urban settings. Not watch tv play video games, roam town all day.

Then someone said her daughters in law knew how to male prepared food as more food is processed in packages and microwaved now. Less of how cooking is done.

                        • Sacrament only today. Choir sang O Holy Night, What Child is This, and other carols that aren't in the hymnal. Had a harp/piano duet.

                          I love Christmas Eve church.

                          • Got to do O Holy Night with my wife playing piano, my boy playing violin and me singing. I am really liking the voice violin duets now that my son is advanced enough to really play just about any church appropriate literature. We did a Sally DeFord piece in February that was really nice as well. Got a flute and cello coming on the pipeline as well. I cannot see much room for my percussionist son though as far as church music goes. Good thing all the kids will have some piano as well.

                              • We sang only three verses of “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.” If there is ever a song that you don’t want to cut short, it is that one. The entire church program was amazing though.
