    Crazy is like goldfish and grows

    to whatever size of container you give it.

    While I'll allow this statement is probably true (reference: anyone with a recurring role in tabloids), I'm more interested in the goldfish. Is this "fun fact" true or just a myth?

    According to wiki, it can grow to a maximum of 23 inches:

      That sounds like some of that wiki BS that Babs hates so much. I find it highly unlikely that that the max size can be determined so precisely.

      Most fish don't have a maximum size. It's just a function of how long they happen to live.

            I grew up on Lake Allatoona, Cherokee County, Georgia. Before dawn one Saturday morning in about 1987 or 1988 my dad and I went down to a cove with my great Uncle Paul and the carp were spawning in the mudflat shallows. They were there for about 3 hours. Most of them looked to be over 2 feet long, so I can attest that a goldfish can grow longer than 23". These were some damn-big fish.
