Will be seeing Keith Urban at the Grand Ol' Opry when in Nashville in a few weeks. I'm not sure if I should be excited about that or not. I am not a huge country fan, but I figure since I am not paying, I might as well go.

It would be awesome to see a show at the Grand Ol Opry.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I always wanted to see a show at Tonic in New York. I was extremely disappointed when it was closed down before I could.

My first concert was David Lee Roth in 88 or something. I was only 15 so my buddies and I rode the bus from Sandy to downtown SLC. My parents weren't thrilled with the idea but gave me my agency... after the "remember who you are speech".

          Other cool concerts:

Rush, Presto Tour 1990, Salt Palace. Not a huge Rush fan anymore, but that was the best concert I've been to.

Rage Against the Machine, 1996, Spanish Fork Fairgrounds. That was fun, the good folks of Spanish Fark were pretty freaked out about the whole thing.

The Cult, 2001, Warfield in S.F. Cool venue for one of the most underrated/overlooked bands of the 80's.

Sadly, that may be my last concert I've been to. Not much of a concert goer anymore. Wait, I did see VH at the Oakland Coliseum in 2004...horrible show, Eddie looked and played like shit. I prefer to remember the 1988 EVH.

            Oh yes..

I saw the Wu Tang Clan @ the Big Easy in Boise ten years ago or so. All the members were there except ODB, who was alive but in jail. They all did individual/solo sets and then combined like Voltron for about 10 Wu cuts.

First concert was Ted Nugent at the Salt Palace in 1978.

Saw The Pogues in New York in 1987.

Saw the Mighty Lemon Drops in SLC at the Palladium in 1990.

Last concert was ABC at The Depot in SLC in '09.

Lots of other shows in between these, including Oingo Boingo 22 times.

                22 times?!

That's got to be close to a board record for most times seeing one band. My record is 3 (Soul Coughing).

I saw the Beastie Boys twice. That's the only band I've seen more than once.

We're going to see the Pixies in Memphis next month. I think this is our first concert since we had kids. Yeah, our oldest is about to turn 10. So, it's been a decade.

My first concert was the Eagles, Hell Freezes Over Tour at the Shoreline Ampitheatre.

The most memorable concert would be the X96 Big Ass Show where I met Beck. (Which was almost as cool as seeing Pearl Jam with Parrothead.)

I've been to a lot of big concerts, but I love the smaller shows. Built to Spill did a free show at the University of Utah. Elliott Smith at DV8. Both were a lot fun.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

My first concert was the Melvins, the Breeders and Nirvana at the Weber County Fairgrounds in the fall of 93. Man the Breeders were terrible. I am glad that I went to that show though considering what happened to Nirvana a few months later.

                        Best concerts I've seen:

                        U2 Elevation - Delta Center
ZZ Top Afterburner - Salt Palace
The Cult - 2001 (I think) Kingsbury Hall (Best concert I've seen with no stage show other than some lights)

Metallica - whatever the name of the tour for the Black Album. Kirk Hammett joked about Family Home Evening. Delta Center

Styx Return to Paradise - David O' McKay Events Center
Howard Jones Dream into Action - Park West
Iron Maiden Reunion tour with Bruce - Aladin Hotel Concert Hall
                        Dixie Chicks - Delta Center

I know there are more but I'm drawing a blank.
