Florida and Miami rarely play each other. I think they had a home and home a few years back and they used to play each other more regularly decades ago. Florida and FSU is the biggest rivalry for both teams and it's been the last regular season game for both as long as I remember.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I think Miami has five titles. Four from the 80s and early 90/ and one from 01. They also had one stolen from them back in 02. FSU has two 93 and 99 and Florida has three recent ones, 96, 06 and 08.Originally posted by CJF View PostMiami is a small private school and FSU and UF are close and large state schools.
Has Miami won more NC's than the other two? UF has won three or four in the last 20 years and FSU has won at least one and probably more. I can only think of two or three for Miami.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Georgia/Georgia Tech is not bigger than Georgia/Florida.Originally posted by myboynoah View PostHmmm, I don't know, I'm not that convinced. Those are teams with multiple rivalries (isn't Notre Dame a rival of just about everyone they play?), and Florida, Florida State, and Georgia play their "real" out-of-conference rivals at the end of the season.
Who is Utah's "real" rival?
I'd throw Alabama/LSU, Alabama/Tennessee, and Florida/LSU into the conversation as well.

I think this is a pointless discussion (even among pointless discussions). I don't get the feeling Chris Hill is adamant to continue the series with BYU, and he's certainly not going to fight tooth and nail to keep it at the end of the year. In addition, it looks like USC/Notre Dame is the only OOC rivalry game that will get the post-September concession. Utah fan reaction (at least online) is solidly in favor of discontinuing the series against BYU, or at least playing them home-and-home. Whether it's because they feel like BYU benefits more from the arrangement; or a new rivalry with Colorado cannot be created while still playing BYU; or Utah's sights should be set higher; I don't know.
IYAM, the rivalry will be a big game regardless of when it's played. Considering that we no longer share a conference, the game won't mean any more or any less whether it's in September or November. As a Ute fan, I prefer having all OOC games in September, and if it was up to me, playing BYU home-and-home annually would be a part of that schedule. Fuck off troll.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostThe biggest bullshit argument is that the Utes will be in contention for a conference title. Everyone knows that won't be happening any time soon. The real reason the game won't happen in November is because Wazzu....errr...I mean Utah doesn't have enough pull to do what USC can do."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

You never have played in a national championship game, so what's your point?Originally posted by shoganai View PostWhat benefits are there to beating Utah that supersede anything BYU would get by winning its remaining 11-12 games? Fine, maybe a Utah loss would keep BYU out of the BCS title game, but knowing your sentiments about BYU, the idea of BYU ever playing in a national championship game again is something you'd bet everything you own against ever happening again.

You need to settle down. Just because I think your destiny is to be ASU, doesn't make me a troll. ASU fans are perfectly happy with their situation. They're also happy to be a commuter school with open admissions. They know what they are and they're accepting of it. You'll learn your place too. And being ASU is better than being in the MWC and it's better than being Wazzu.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostFuck off troll.Part of it is based on academic grounds.
