I just don't get it. Having it again for lunch today. Didn't know ahead of time this time so I could bring my own salsa. It's just not good. I don't get why everyone here raves about it so much.

I bet the SoCal ones are complete failures. Unless they change the recipes significantly for CA.

Nor do I like it. I'm starting to think that most think it's good because it's name starts with Cafe.

I would suggest that you stop eating there. But seeing that you moved to Utah, and then again to Utah County, I doubt you'll take that advice.

At the risk of hanging myself, I like Cafe Rio.

I love Mexican food. I served a Spanish speaking mission. I grew up mostly in Los Angeles County. I know what Mexican food is. Cafe Rio is not Mexican food. I don't pretend that it is. It's Americanized just as any burrito is. But it has its place and for what it is I enjoy it.

I could the say the same for any number of Americanized Asian restaurants.

I think it's pretty good, and better than In-N-Out.

I also wonder how the Rio does in Southern California.

Why apologize for your opinion? There is no wrong or right answer here.

I have only eaten there once by choice.

I like it too. In fact, most [intelligent] people like it. But I don't remember being blown away when I first had it, but that may be because expectations were not too high then (I first had it at the first SG location, the little one).

FM, don't be surprised if it grows on you and you find yourself craving it. Also, what did you order? Most people have their favorite dish, and don't order anything else. For me the tacos are not great, so I don't get those. The enchiladas are forgettable was well.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Coming to Surfahs rescue. I like it as well. But I really only get one thing, A grilled chicken salad. The other thing I mix in occasionally is the Salmon tacos.

I'm with you. I like it. Of course, I don't know the first thing about authentic Mexican food...except that I'm now a regular patron of what I hear is an authentic Mexican taco place here in Cedar City.

I'm not sure what "good" means, FM, but I suspect it has something to do with whether people like to eat it. Most people I know do. I know some people who don't like Cafe Rio, but most of them seem to harp on the fact that it tastes like nothing in Mexico. OK. I'm sure that really bugs Mr. Cafe Rio.

i forgot that one is opening down here in Lake Forest. I am not sure when, but I think it is soon. I haven't received any mass-emails from my EQ President recently, so maybe it already opened.

Cafe Rio is mediocre and appeals to those who like sickly sweet pork dishes. I'm amazed when I see how much brown sugar is in the Cafe Rio pork recipes. It isn't bad food by any means and occasionally I even enjoy the shredded beef that they have there.

The problem is when people saying it is great Mexican food.

I am the opposite... Bajio's meat is dry and tasteless and their tortillas aren't as good, IMO.

See, it's a good thing we didn't have lunch that one time. We'd have just argued about everything, anyway. I can't think of the last time we agreed on a topic here.

I've never heard that sentence uttered before.
