Today was a first. I attended an online funeral via Facebook Live. It was for my brother's wife's sister who I knew a little bit. I wouldn't have traveled 350 miles to attend in person under normal circumstances, but it was worth an hour to watch it being broadcast. I likely would have attended if it were less than an hour's drive to get there.
A sign of the times I guess.
The broadcast was fairly low quality with many gaps of up to ten seconds. I'm not a Facebook user, so it took a while to figure out how to connect based on my sister-in-law's instructions. If this becomes a more regular thing, the mortuaries need to improve the broadcast setup. We could be going through something similar soon with my wife's brother's wife.
