Hey that was better than I expected for a team missing so many key players. Fullerton is horrible but this was pretty good all things considered.

      MVP had a three!

It was nice to see Pope start his career with a win. The team is heavy on upperclassmen, heavy on shooting, and ultralight on size. Lee really rumbles, bumbles and stumbles. I thought they showed good energy on defense for most of the night. We'll see how they do between now and when Yoeli gets back.

Not sure why Toolson kept trying to back his guy down.

TJ came alive in the second half but wtf on his free throws? Must not be fully recovered from whatever illness afflicted him.

Nice seeing Tyler in the building - is he no longer playing in Europe or has his league just not started play yet?

Seljass and Knell both knocking down their first attempts from 3 warmed my heart.

Why are they passing the ball to Kolby so far away from the basket? If he's not within a step of the restricted area, then he's too far away to initiate offense.

It's going to be really tough against any teams with quality size. I foresee a lot of foul trouble.

          Barcelo came to play.

Harding had a solid but quiet outing.

Rise and Shout! The Cougars are out!

There is a lot more shooting this year than the past few years. That will make this team pretty good once they get Yo back, and it’s a damn shame we won’t get to see Baxter and Yo surrounded by legit shooters because I think that team makes the tourney. Really liked both Barcello and Knell among the newcomers, and Harding seems improved. We’ll just need to bomb away until December because the interior is just so bad.

I was watching my 10-month old during the game, but I liked Barcello's fire. You can tell he's happy to be getting PT. It's a small thing, I suppose, but I really liked his touch around the rim. You know how when you're on fire and no matter the angle, you could find the right spot on the backboard to get easy 2s 8-10 feet out? I feel like Barcello had 2-3 of those shots where he was just feeling it. I hope he keeps it up.

My expectations are extremely low for Lee, so I was actually somewhat surprised that he was able to score 5 points. I am still not sure he could walk and chew gum, however.

Toolson looked lost out there. It may be a bit of nerves, and hopefully he can just get in his flow, but he looked painfully awkward. His missed shots, even two of his made shots were bad. Thoughts and prayers.

MVP cost us an easy 3 with a knucklehead offensive foul, and even blocked one of Barcello's put back shots, so he's basically picked up where he left off.

Seljaas has always had a unique style, but I was surprised that he adopted both the porn stache and the dad bod. Lucky bastard.

I'm not sure we can take away much from this game, but I'm glad they didn't struggle putting away an inferior opponent.

Ha. Yeah, I don't see a lot of innate understanding about the game. Definitely an earnest player, but a great ability to be at the wrong place doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. It's uncanny.
                Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I don’t understand how MVP can be so bad offensively. He scored a ton of points in high school.

I think the mustache and wacky hair could be awesome if Seljaas played a little better.

What a ridiculous regression he has had since his freshman year. The mission killed his 3-point shot.

i've always been of the opinion that either chocolate thunder or skip to my lou are the greatest sports nicknames, but those have each been surpassed by MVP.

I liked Barcello. I think he will be BYU's best perimeter on the ball defender and can play that role better than anybody BYU has had since Chuckie Abwow-wow. I think he played above himself offensively, but I also believe he will be better on the offensive end than he was at Arizona.

Still concerned how Barcello and TJ work together on the offensive end.

Toolson wasn't real good but I believe if was the WAC POY last year it was an aberration and he will develop into a good offensive player for BYU.

With Baxter out things are tougher but perhaps I am the homer because I really think this club will be much better than any BYU team for quite sometime. Once Yoeli returns I expect the starting 5 to be:

                        Yoeli
                        Seljaas
                        Toolson
                        TJ
                        Barcello

Off the bench you will see Harding, Nixon, Lee, Knell and Nield. Harding and Nixon will play a lot with Harding playing as both a 3 and 4 and Nixon at both post positions. Lee will see time in specific matchups and Knell and Nield will get their minutes to spell the big 3 on the perimeter- all of whom I expect to play 32 mpg at least. I believe once Childs gets integrated BYU will run a good 4 out 1 in offense with plenty of shooters (Seljaas, Toolson, TJ, Harding, Knell, Barcello) on the perimeter. I also think they will defend much better than they have for a few years.

Saturday will be a good test without Yoeli. Similar to winning at UTEP and vs UNLV without Jimmer Jimmer's junior year.

                        I am pretty damn optimistic.

Dumb tweet but very effective at triggering Mika and big brother Jackson to respond.

Even though it is true, that tweet is in very poor taste. Not a good reflection on the fanbase.

BTW, why do you want to "trigger" mika or jackson?

That guy seems like an ass, but Nick Emery deserves every bit of shit he gets on twitter.
