For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

So did he invite you to dress up as Indians and kill a bunch of Missourians?

Did you mean Native Americans, or were you thinking falafel and his buddy were going to get in character as Rajesh and Sanjay before their Missouri killing spree?

Glad they didn’t ask you to explain the long removed temple actions of slitting your own throat.

It’s obvious they are new members. Most members just ask me tax questions in the foyer after church. It’s annoying because I’m not a tax accountant.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Maybe things are different out west, but we have a sizable reservation out here (with a long LDS history, the Chief spoke in General Conference or something years and years ago), and among the ones I have discussed it with, Native American is not the preferred nomenclature. Indian, please.

An older couple at church asked if they could come ask me a tax question at my office. I asked what the question was. They refused to ask their question there since they deemed it an inappropriate topic for the Sabbath.

What the natives prefer to be called has little bearing on what you were envisioning for falafel and his sidekick.

Is that really your experience? In my experience, the preference is indigenous or First Nation.

So, Falafel has some friends that got baptized, now they have something to "show him", and now we are discussing ways to deal with faith crises/preferred nomenclature for indians?

Based on what we know, I think the more likely explanation is that Falafel's friends are swingers (as I assume 50% of Vegas is) and they are hoping Falafel will join the lifestyle.

As someone who is no respector of persons, I am fine either way.

    Yep:

I had a member of the tribe work for me for several years, and until last year the reservation was in our stake so I know many members of the nation through church. I can't swear I have never heard any of them use other terms, but the term they use by far the most is "Indian".

They're called Indian Casino's - and the tribe members cash the checks gladly. I've never heard of a "First Nation Casino"

I chuckle to myself for the turmoil you must be experiencing - the quandary of sending them a half hour bill - or not.

Those student loans don't pay themselves.

One my jobs here for the state is Native American Liaison, for when we have government to government consultation be pretty much whenever they want something from us. In an official capacity, they will use Native American. They refer to themselves as native and indian and are totally cool with others using indian and Rez is acceptable as well.

That is from my five years working with 7 federally recognized tribes in California.
