That's quite a mouthful. And it's interesting that the bird is using a two-feet-together takeoff, not a running takeoff. Is that the bird equivalent of a swimmer doing the freestyle stroke vs the butterfly? Or did it grow up in Australia, watching kangaroos? ;-)

    Great as usual!

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

Second 4 day trip. This one with a rented 100-400 f/4-f/5.6, not quite the reach of the 600 f/4, but a lot cheaper.

Tried various compositions, that one ended up being my favorite, though I really wish I hadn't clipped the upper right of the bud. There was a bit of a breeze, so a bit of motion kept me from being able to be completely in control of the frame. Here's an alternate.

He makes this look so easy. Birding is hard enough, let alone getting amazing shots all of the time.

Excellent shots; I particularly like... well, I like them all, but the zoomed-in glassy water is very cool.
