  • The Bread Man Cometh, the NHL Offseason thread

I just don't see the Blackhawks making the playoffs (5 points back with 5 games remaining with 4 against playoff teams), so it is time to move on to the offseason.

First order of business is that Bettman needs to do the right thing and rig the draft for the Blackhawks to get the top pick. He failed in this task last year.

9 million AAV to the Bread Man. He loves Chicago. He has given Chicago a discount in the past to build a team. Make it happen. The defense isn't getting fixed so we are just going to have to outscore teams and possess the puck more. Our blueline is going to suck. After getting him locked up, move Ansimov for more cap space

If we can get the Bread Man back we can roll out 3 very good lines. You will have pairings of Saad-Toews, Kane-Panarin, and DeBrincat-Strome.

Filing out the lines it is probably something like:

    Line 1: Saad-Toews-Sikura (assuming he re-signed)
    Line 2: Panarin-Caggiula-Kane
    Line 3: DeBrincat-Strome-Kahun

not at all. He had an awesome season. The problem with the Blackhawks is their defense and goalie situation. Kane was a monster offensively this year.

Third in the league in points 41 goals and 63 assists so far.

Zero, which scares me because it probably means he is due for another one.

Not really a fan of the Maata trade, but he is probably better than anything we could get in free agency for the blueline at 4 million AAV.

I'm guessing Turcotte is the choice with the 3rd pick

Panarin to the Rangers. 11.6 AAV for the contract. There was no way the Blackhawks could have matched that. I think 9 million was the max the Blackhawks could have put out there for him.
