Sometimes it sucks trying to be a responsible adult.

In other news, The Onion rocks.

EDIT: Video not working. Looks like it should be working. Odd.

Am I the only one here that has no desire to play these games?

I have a 360, but I only play the sports games.

I am just the opposite. I don't care about the sports games. I like some FPSs. I love playing a good RPG....Oblivion, for example. I absolutely loved Fallout 3.

I dont want to set the world....on fire........

Most folks I know who have a gaming system are like you. They play the FPS games and ignore the sports games.

I'd rather go to my parents' house and pull the old Intellivision system out of the attic and play the football or baseball game than any of the RPG games that are out there.

weak. you are playing dirty pool. You didn't give me Intellivision as an option!

Do your folks still have the plastic overlays for the controllers? Hard core intellivision fans kept the cartridges and the overlays.

And don't forget to hit "1" and "9" simultaneously to pause the game!

I'm sure the overlays are still there. When I left on my mission, my dad boxed up the entire system and put it away.

I just might go over to their house this afternoon and bring that bad boy home. My kids need to see what great fun a system like that was.

I must admit, it looks pretty freaking amazing. I am tempted to accidentally pick up a copy on my way home today.

How do these guys get so good at these games that were just released 8 hours ago?
I just picked up my copy! I stood in line for about 10 minutes at my local Toys R Us with about 10 other adult men waiting to buy the game. I used to feel ashamed, but I'm past all that now.

As far as getting so good so quick, the COD games are all based on the (relatively) same game engine. The same principles apply to operating the guns and running and scoping, etc., in all the games. So its just like moving from the black top to a nicer gym. You can bring your pre-developed skills along with you.

What about those of us that are coming over from another FPS (i.e., Halo)? I have never played any of the COD series and am wondering if my skilz will translate.

Also, how rough is the language in this game? Nobody is going to get into too much trouble in my house as long as the f-bomb stays safely unsaid.

From what I heard in the conference room, there are some hecks and darns, a few mierdas, didn't hear any fetches.

I am going to pick up a copy today after work. I have only played COD a few times. I love Halo and many of my friends that play or played Halo rave about COD especially Modern Warfare 1 or whatever the last COD game was that came out. Hopefully us beginners can pick it up quickly.

It is not too hard to pick up. Just don't try to to jump

one quibble.....these latest two installments aren't really Call of Duty games.

They should simply be released as "Modern Warfare 1" and "Modern Warefare 2."

The CoD franchise should stay WW2.

That being said, Modern Warfare 2 looks amazingly cool.

I like to do the campaign before I play live. Other people do directly to live and play immediately.

There is some sentiment that the only reason to keep the COD was for brand recognition. Think about how the Pontiac Montana started out as the Pontiac TranSport "Montana Edition", eventually the TranSport was dropped.

it is a total cash grab. I don't doubt that we will see Call of Duty: Outer Space sometime in the future. And if Nintendo had its way, we would see Call of Duty: Mario.

These Modern Warfare games are good enough to stand alone. They no longer need the CoD crutch.

I agree. After this game, I'll bet you'll never see COD slapped on the case again. In fact, I'm not sure I even saw it on the copy I just bought.

However, I'm not sure why you are so in favor of keeping COD to just WW2 games. I understand that's how the first 3 games of the series started, but why can't there be a call of duty in modern times? And by "call of duty" I mean why doesn't the same sense of honor and duty apply to a modern war? Not that it matters to me. Whether its COD6 or MW2, I don't care. Its the best FPS ever, so who cares what its called.

Also, I read recently that this game is expected to do $500M in its first week.
