His Dad was recounting to me last week that the son didn’t want to eat before his soccer game on Saturday morning but that the Dad forced him to eat something so he would have enough energy to play soccer. That’s the best paradigm shift that people could make when they read this. I’ve been doing like 20 hours fasting and 4 hours a day eating and feel great with that as long as I get enough fluid.
The book also made me realize how much we snack these days, and how damaging that is - especially for kids. Just go to any soccer or t-ball game and watch how much junk we pass out to kids after a game. It is a wonder that more kids aren't obese or diabetic.

If you inject somebody with insulin without glucose then they become hypoglycemic. Nobody ever talks about a person becoming hypoglycemic from too much diet soda or too much artificial sweetener in tea or coffee.
BTW, my doctor son said that there is a new drug that changes insulin sensitivity (or blunts the impact of insulin?). He prescribes it to some of his diabetes patients and they immediately lose 12-15 lbs."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Murphy said that he cannot rule out the possibility that the artificially sweetened positive associations were influenced by unhealthy individuals switching to artificially sweetened soft drinks.
“We recognize that a possible explanation for the positive associations found for artificially sweetened soft drinks is that participants who were already at greater health risk (those who were overweight or obese; those with prediabetes) may have switched to artificially sweetened soft drinks to manage their calorie and sugar intake,” he said in an email."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? The parameters of the study seem a little loose.
Participants who drank two or more glasses of soft drinks per day had a higher risk of mortality than those who consumed less than one glass per month.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I'm going to continue drinking one or two a day and I won't feel guilty about it.

Pass the beef...
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/30/h...01tion=topNews
Public health officials for years have urged Americans to limit consumption of red meat and processed meats because of concerns that these foods are linked to heart disease, cancer and other ills.
But on Monday, in a remarkable turnabout, an international collaboration of researchers produced a series of analyses concluding that the advice, a bedrock of almost all dietary guidelines, is not backed by good scientific evidence.
If there are health benefits from eating less beef and pork, they are small, the researchers concluded. Indeed, the advantages are so faint that they can be discerned only when looking at large populations, the scientists said, and are not sufficient to tell individuals to change their meat-eating habits."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right?
