If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

        Exactly.

What the hell? Simply don't buy stuff on credit or borrow money at rates 15% or higher. This isn't rocket science.

        Next.
        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I agree. I am also fine with capping interest rates that would effectively ban payday loans, but everyone would need to acknowledge the net result would be zero access to credit in low income neighborhoods. I dont think AOC would acknowledge that because she doesnt do economics.

          • AOC thinks the ad showing her photograph burning is in poor taste and encourages violence towards her.

I wonder if she thinks the Bonanza TV show introduction encouraged forest fires in the Tahoe region?

            PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Maybe all the Dems will get onboard with the new green deal now.

Amazon is now going to the west side of Manhattan instead of the location in Queens that would have been in or near her district. They are planning to hire 1,500 people instead of 25,000. Not sure she should be laughing.

“The giant online retailer said it has signed a new lease for 335,000 square feet on the city’s west side in the new Hudson Yards neighborhood, where it will have more than 1,500 employees,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “Amazon is taking the space without any of the special tax credits and other inducements the company had been offered to build a new headquarters in the Queens neighborhood of Long Island City, the company said.”

“The new lease represents Amazon’s largest expansion in New York since it stunned the city by abandoning those earlier plans. Amazon pulled back after facing a backlash from some politicians and activists over the roughly $3 billion in financial incentives the city and state had extended to woo the company and the 25,000 new jobs it had pledged to create,” The Journal explained.
"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Especially because all that 3 billion in liquid cash that the city promised to place directly into Jeff Bezos wallet, will now go to fixing the subway!

She should start a new party: the new green party.

She does have a point. I'm all for the Dems staying closer to the center or right than moving to the left like she and others want to happen.

The Liberal party in Canada is similar to the Dems. It swings left or right depending on who is in charge. When Paul Martin was finance minister/Prime Minister in the early 90s- mid 00s, it was implementing pretty conservative economic policies. The same could be said of the Bill Clinton era in the states. There is the NDP (New Democrats) in Canada that houses the "true" left. They have never governed but were official opposition before Justin Trudeau showed up. The US has no equivalent of the NDP. i.e. no relatively strong "true" left party.

In the UK, you have the Labour party that occupies the left, the Liberal Democrats in the center (hasn't governed since the 1920's).

                                Interesting perspective.

There are a lot of true believers that we can capitalism our way out of poverty in the Democratic Party. If anything, that's probably the majority. Um...and that's an area in which I agree with Dr. King. That that assessment is flawed.
So - I get it that having an economy based in capitalism has not eliminated poverty from among our people. But I have yet to see an alternative that is viable with the challenges and circumstances we have in the US. While I can't disagree that perhaps some of the most wealthy should be contributing more - I honestly don't know what that looks like. But I also don't believe that the list of things she and other folks who lean left are hoping to provide free for everyone is going to lead us out of poverty either.
