I really admire the way SMC plays basketball. I hate that we can't beat them, but they are fun to watch.
They annoy me when we play them, but I would love to see them take down a big name in the tournament.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Isn't it time for Bennett to go take a job at NC State, or Vanderbilt or someplace like that by now?

Frustrating. St. Mary's was really good. BYU had its moments but just not enough.

Our offensive spacing was inconsistent, Yoeli looked like an underclassman being schooled by a senior. Cannon was head-faked successfully by Narr (sp?). For those not speaking German, in German, it means fool.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Naar. It's not a German word. But in Dutch it means "to".

St. Mary's is ranked #4 in Offensive efficiency by Kenpom and #120 in Defensive efficiency. BYU is ranked #88 in Offensive and #30 in Defensive. St. Mary's scored 5 points below their 80ppg scoring average so their #4 Offensive efficiency didn't suffer much against BYU's defense. But BYU's offense scored 7 points below their 75ppg average and thus did poorly by comparison against St. Mary's #120 ranked defense.

As an example, in the first half, BYU was up 19-18 at the 11:21 mark on a Bryant basket. They then go 6 minutes, including when Naar was out of the game with an injury, and score only 2 points. Here are their "lowlights" during that time:

    11:21 Elijah Bryant made Jumper. 19 - 18
    10:58 Foul on Luke Worthington. 19 - 18
    10:25 Luke Worthington missed Jumper. 19 - 21
9:53 McKay Cannon missed Three Point Jumper. 19 - 21
    9:47 McKay Cannon Turnover. 19 - 21
    9:10 Dalton Nixon missed Layup. 19 - 21
    8:29 McKay Cannon made Layup. 21 - 23
7:53 TJ Haws missed Three Point Jumper. 21 - 26
    7:03 Yoeli Childs Turnover. 21 - 26
    6:30 TJ Haws Turnover. 21 - 26
    6:17 Foul on Yoeli Childs. 21 - 28
6:02 Dalton Nixon missed Three Point Jumper. 21 - 29
5:44 Yoeli Childs missed Three Point Jumper. 21 - 29
    5:29 BYU Timeout

Note that they weren't necessarily "layups" but shots around the rim.

10 offensive possessions and only 1 basket until Dave Rose puts BYU out of their misery, ending an 11-2 run by St. Mary's.

BYU then claws their way back at the half and even take a couple of leads in the 2nd half, only to go through two other sucky, although not as glaringly bad as the one above, offensive stretches.

Someone smarter at basketball than me will need to figure out why BYU isn't able to executive against a decent, but not great, St. Mary's defense.
