What was the guy on Alabama going crazy on the sideline for and did he punch his coach? And I thought I saw him back in the game later. Is this normal for Alabama?

That was crazy, and yes he was back in the game. Also, I swear I heard Herbstreit say "they'll send the police over, right?" after the swing at the coach.

I think the NFL could learn something from those refs last night on instant replay though. Nothing longer than 30 seconds. Stayed with the call on the field if it was iffy.

Can this crew get an NFL game this weekend? There were missed calls both ways, but that happens all the time. I'm okay as long as the misses are equal.

Just watched the clips. I think it was Fowler saying "They'll self-police over there, won't they?"

Can't believe he wasn't tossed for the sucker punch on the Georgia player. As an official I don't know how you see that and throw the flag but don't have the stones to make the ejection. Also can't believe the Alabama coaches let him back on the field after his behavior on the sideline. That is nuts.

Yawn.. I saw enough of the highlights to see Bama once again get the calls or Non-calls to go their way.

And you can have players drop F-bombs about the President and swing at opposing players and coaches and still play.

Congrats to classy Bama. I guess.

My glass house is made of plexiglass.. And I can accept our faults while Bama and their fans are like the obnoxious Trust-Fund Brat who really just needs a good ass kicking.

I was sitting at my son’s indoor soccer practice last night and they had the pre-game going. I hear Herbie talk about how poor the SEC Conference did but these two teams are great and stating this isn’t about Conference.

The fuck it isn’t!! We hear adnauseam every year if the SEC Conference does well and the first time they are for shit we get that kind of talk!!

    Excuses. Pathetic excuses.

So...every player that Nick Saban has recruited at Alabama, that has stayed at Alabama, has won a National Championship.

That doesn't hurt the old recruiting pitch.

I thought it was an awesome game. Felt sad for Georgia, but they couldn't get 'er done (except for that kicker with the thick glasses; kudos to him for choosing a look and sticking with it). Cool story about the Samoan back-up QB coming in and winning it. That TD pass he threw to tie it up was a lucky catch. Let's please get an 8-team playoff, or even better, 16 teams, so all those BIG people can STFU.

Again, very enjoyable game to watch.

there are four girls in my little family, including my wife. oldest two - wife and 18 year old are all girl - never wanted anything to do with sports. the 4th, a 7 year old seems to be going that direction as well.

the 3rd, a 9 year old as of about 14 months ago seemed to be the same. over the last year she's been playing basketball and volleyball and loving it. she's even shown some interest in watching sports off and on - not a lot, but enough to give her sports fan dad some hope. Note: my 16 year old son, while a very good athlete, is not a sports fan in any sense of the word.

Fast forward to last night. I had very little interest in watching another SEC championship game, but apparently my 9 year old's teacher is a huge Georgia fan and talked about it at school on Monday. So my 9 year old asks if we can watch the game. Of course we can! Anyway, she sits through the entire damn game with me and it was fun as hell (my son has never watched an entire game).

Every night when I tuck my little girls in, I ask them what their favorite part of the day was - my 7 year old: dance. My 9 year old: basketball practice and "the Georgia game". basketball practice and watching a football game? my daughter? are you effing kidding me?!

    thanks, SEC football!

Yes! That time the entire nation tuned in to root for Mariota and the Ducks to defeat tOSU. Sadly, it didn't end well.

That may be true to some degree (As I remember relishing in that win for a week or so)..

I also like to think it was because there was no SEC team in it!!

Good call, db. Of the top 10 most widely viewed CFB games of all time, 8 of them involved an SEC team.

The 2 games in the top 10 not involving SEC teams? Both games involved Oregon. Brock, your buckeyes just happened to be playing a team with one of the most exciting offenses ever.

If they were so damn exciting why in the hell did they not win it?

Maybe it’s because it wasn’t so exciting and the Buckeyes were as always.. Just better.
