Thread: We're still playing football? BYU vs UNLV

Default We're still playing football? BYU vs UNLV

I'm not sure what to make of the "open competition" for QB this week. I hope it's just something they're saying to the media to not give UNLV a chance to do game prep based on a specific QB. Surely after spring practices, fall camp, and 10 weeks of in-season practices, the coaches know who can run the offense better than the others.

We start off the week by telling the media that it will be an open competition between Hoge, Critchlow, and Wilstead. Yesterday they say that Hoge will be probably get the start if he's healthy enough to play.

My prediction is that if you connect the dots and add 2 plus 2, Austin Kafentzis is going to be the starter.

Critchlow and Wilstead have probably not had a lot of reps since fall camp. Even in fall camp, they probably got the least amount of reps of any of the QBs.

Trying to decide if I should drive the 15 miles to go with my son or just stream it. Anyone else planning to be there?

As I didn’t see the game, my Ute friends took it upon themselves to share a 3 min clip of his performance, which further served to galvanize my resolve. What a hot mess BYU is.

I would go 15 miles just to hang out with my sons. The game is either a bonus or a distraction, but the hanging out id the main event.

Presumably LVAllen can hang out with his son at home that day as well.

I will most likely stream it. Why sit in the stadium only to watch BYU be humiliated? If I can talk my wife into coming, maybe I can meet the few fans there.

You need to give up that dream right now. Neither team is in the top 25.

I could fudge and say I thought it was going to be a Rod Stewart farewell concert, that's why so many are dressed in blue?

So are you LV guys really not going to the game? I know we suck this year but come on. If BYU plays within 200 miles of me I will always go unless I have a major work conflict.

Um, I'm really not going. But you're making me feel slightly bad about it.

Even as a Utah fan, I agree with this. Fortunately, I’m not within 200 miles of Las Vegas this weekend.

What's even more depressing is that BYU is currently the 4.5 pt underdog. Against UNL-Freaking-V.

For some reason, I thought this game was tomorrow, not tonight.

My wife would kill me if I wasted her time to go to see them lose to UNLV. I value her good will more than watching a bad team play poorly.

I'm not too dumb to know how to read a calendar, so i'll be there tonight.

We have to beat these Rebel scabs. Do they even have a fan base?

I can't recall the last time I saw someone wearing UNLV gear. Maybe back in the 80s when their basketball team was awesome?

I drove 5 1/2 hours each way last weekend to watch the game in Fresno, and we were a 14 point underdog for that game. Hope that makes you feel worse about not going.

They won in 1990 and lost to Duke in 1991.

They don't have a football fanbase. Some use a football game as an excuse to drink bitter beer.

Any truth to the "Critchlow is starting" rumor? I saw something posted on CB about it but I've also heard Hoge is ready to go for the game as well. I'd be surprised if they don't start a healthy Hoge...but they might just be calling in the seasons and deciding to get Critchlow some reps...
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
