  • No Smack Here - PSU vs. USC

    http://live.psu.edu/story/36435/nw5

Here's the campus article on the Rose Bowl. It is disappointingly lacking in smack, probably because most people know USC is a stronger (read: faster) team that will be playing in front of a home crowd.

An interesting fact from the article: Joe Pa is the only coach to win the Rose, Fiesta, Orange, Sugar and Cotton Bowls.

When a guy coaches for a hundred years, he's bound to win several different bowl games.

Has any coach won the Emerald, Armed Forces, and Poinsettia bowls, and been co-head coach while winning the Fiesta? Stick that up your pie hole, JoePa.

That's NOTHING. You coach long enough you'll accomplish pretty much everything. On the other hand we've got a coach that works fast -- it only took him ten years to lose all four.

        So there.

when it comes to BCS games, it pays to be the underdog. Unless you're playing USC.

I just thought of something. How come USC never has to play the SEC for the title? And vice versa?

Excellent question. Perhaps it would prove that either the SEC or USC is beatable and therefore, not superior?

Outside of the Fiesta Bowl do you think that JoePa even knows those bowls exist now a days? For some reason I don't.

Whatever happened to sweet bowls like the Blockbuster Video Bowl, Poulen Weedeater Bowl, and Weiser Lock Bowl?

I miss the good old days when there were only 10-15 meaningless post-season bowl games.
