        Six straight sweet 16. Amazing.

Oregon, what a strange approach. They don't sub out any of their pin hitters when they rotate to the back row. The upside is it gives you behind the 3M line attacks. But there is a problem if none of your pin hitters can pass at all. And BYU absolutely destroyed them because of that.

Roni Jones-Perry was unbelievable tonight. And Mary Lake was Mary Lake. This is a fun team, and they get almost everyone back next year.

Really nice crowd tonight; felt like a men's game.

This team is really good and Heather is one of the best strategy coaches in college volleyball.

Just got back from the ward party and watched with my daughter (who worships at the altar of Mary Lake). Lake was great, but Jones-Perry was unreal. I don’t know the exact stat, but it felt like she hit .750. She couldn’t miss.

Doubt HFN sleeps much tonight, which finally spares me the trouble of asking him how he sleeps at night.

Agreed. Putting Stetler In was a bold move. Definitely lose a bit on the front row, but a better passer in serve reception.

We get spoiled by having Lake, but Oregon’s libero was Marginal as well.

She mixed it up so well. Oregon’s block was legit, and she had to get crafty. I love it when she goes full Ben Patch from the back row.

It’s by far the more common approach in my experience.

We’ve had a major hole at right side all year and Heather has covered it. Stetler was just one more approach to filling a gap in the rotation that’s hurt us all year. Win for Heather.

Maybe more generally but I don't think that's true for the WCC, at least. Virtually everyone team I saw this year ran defensive specialist and typically had maybe one player (like BYU's does) play back and front (besides the setter). I think that's pretty common for a 5-1 in the women's game. Grant you, Oregon runs a 6-2 (only remember one other 6-2 team this year) so if you want a back row attack you pretty much have to do it. But you're really putting pressure on your libero to cover lots of ground.

They also signed one national type player, Gneiting and a very good regional player for next year.
