Railroad Barbecue-Dripping Springs, TX
With a name like this, in a town called dripping springs, in the Texas Hill Country, I figured this place had to be good. When I saw a couple of cops walking out, I knew I'd found the place.
Turns out it was pretty mediocre. I got the 2-meat combo (chicken and brisket). The 1/2 chicken was moist, well seasoned, with a good smoke flavor. The brisket was mediocre in every sense of the word. It was not dry, but it was not flavorful either. A bit of a disappointment for this part of Texas. I didn't finish the sides (beans and potato salad).
There's a joint 1/2 mile down 290 called Pig Pen that is supposed to be solid. Next time business takes me to Austin, I'll return and report.
