Default Is Brexit, Trump an omen of things to come?

Fillon won the candidacy for the right wing party to go against Hollande.

The right wing in the Netherlands appears to be gathering steam as well.

California has this crazy thing called ballot initiatives that makes it too easy to get propositions on the ballot. Don't underestimate the power of the people.

But do they love Trump's America?

If they get something crazy like CalExit on the ballot then maybe they will get all those trump protesters to actually register and vote. I guess that would be a positive.

Trump will be out of the oval office before they can get through all of the legal challenges.

Yep. e.g., no way we will let them have the federal lands in Cali... Even if they get the Bundy's to stage yet another standoff on them.

They've managed the water exceptionally well, I can't wait to see what they do once they aren't hindered by the US courts, currency and financial system.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Good point... If CalExit passes Nevada could just keep all the water in Lake Mead and screw over both Cali and Mexico.

Crazy is not limited to those two states, unfortunately.

I do think it's possible that in the not too distant future we see another real attempt at secession, especially if the Trump Presidency is a disaster, but there's little chance of that happening without violence. And in that scenario Progressives don't stand a chance.

But those two states are always battling for the top spot. And third place is a distant third.

As Portland's sphere of influence grows in Oregon, that distance closes a bit each year.

Californians can vote for whatever the heck they want. Doesn't mean the rest of the USA will let them actually implement whatever the heck they vote for.

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of dumb people there that get a lot of stupid things on the ballot.

I bet these folks would vote for it...

I would write the same thing, but my kids are mocking me relentlessly for my declaration ten months ago that there was absolutely no way Donald Trump would ever be elected POTUS.

Fair point. My family standing as a political prognosticator has taken a beating following my similar pronouncements about Trump. But that said, and even allowing for a reactionary populist fever among California's more liberally inclined population, I will still say it isn't going to happen. I lived through the 1980 Quèbecois referendum on independence, where they had real grievances and an oddly charismatic leader in René Levesque, two elements that are lacking here in California, and even though people loved the idea of independence there, they eventually voted with their wallets to stay in the union and that would happen here as well.

I went so far as to bet that he would drop out or be forced out before Election Day. I was hoping for an eleventh hour miracle but regrettably none was forthcoming.
