Trump wasn't keen on adding Montenegro either was he? That was in the works for a long time as I understand it, and probably Trump didn't have enough time to stop it. But I'm guessing Putin can live with that as long as he thinks the Germans are pissed at us.

          • One of the good things that has come from the Trump presidency is that it has been so revealing about so many individuals, groups, and institutions that have let their masks slip and/or completely lost their minds.

Rand Paul temporarily blocked Montenegro (which staved off Russian operatives who were plotting violence) but I don't think Trump ever weighed in, other than signing off on it. Montenegro being in NATO walls Russia off from being able to access warm-water ports on the Adriatic Sea, containing their ability for force projection.

Trump's fixation on Germany (and the EU) is concerning. I don't think he criticized Erdogan's thugs for attacking American citizens. He likes strongmen, and especially Russia.

Are you of the mindset that all the concern about possible collusion with the Russians is just hysterics? More stuff comes out each day.

And they got the hair all wrong. Trump doesn't have thick hair like that.

I'm of the view that most of it is a false narrative that is being used to undermine the legitimacy of Trump's democratic win and hamper him, but I am open to any real evidence being presented that demonstrates that Trump has committed a high crime or misdemeanor. That has not happened, as much as some want it sooo bad. So far it appears that this whole Russia narrative was concocted. As the recent book Shattered points out, Hillary's team decided right after she lost the election that they would blame Russian interference and the narrative was born that night. It's working somewhat. In a recent poll, over 50% of democrats believe that Russia tampered with vote totals. There is NO evidence for this, but it benefits democrats that people think that.

Kushner's move to establish a secret back channel may feed this narrative, but there could be some legitimate motives (begin coordinating on Syria and ISIS efforts). The Washington Post and the NYT were more than happy to downplay / ignore / have no problem with similar stuff when Obama did it. Remember this:

And Obama also tried to establish secret back channels with Russia, too. The people troubled now were probably not troubled then.

I think the bigger abuses and threats to our democracy happened under Obama's watch, including the weaponization of the IRS, and, as is now coming to light, the weaponization of intelligence agencies that may have been spying on political opponents (link). Giving back to Iran billions of dollars and providing the cover for them to complete their nuclear ambitions (while lying about the whole deal and details along the way) will likely have devastating consequences in the future. I could go on and on.

BTW, I am not a Trump fanboi. I think he is a vulgar a-hole and I would have preferred many other options besides him, but I will take him any day of the week over Hillary and twice on Sundays. I will judge Trump far more on what he does and the results of his time in office than what dumb stuff he says / tweets. His Supreme Court justice pick alone may be enough to justify his presidency, but it is all too early to judge.

This is a good point. Comb overs are accomplished with really long hair, so an accurate depiction would show the head dangling from just a few long strands.

Thanks for you response. It's hard to see all the evidence right now because of the classified nature of the investigation. In my view a lot of circumstantial evidence has already come out. Reputable news sources keep churning out investigative article after investigative article. I also don't think commands a vast media empire that is prepared make stories up for her. The Russian narrative happened quite awhile before the election even occurred.
Obama's reaching out to the Russians while he is president is miles different than one of Trump's surrogates doing so before he took office, and asking for a "bug proof" line, suggesting that meetings could occur in Russian diplomatic facilities. There have been an inordinate amount of Trump people who had conversations with the Russians they weren't forthcoming about. I'd like to know what the feds have on people like Flynn and Page. Trump antagonizing our allies that being mute about any criticism of Moscow is also suspicious in my book.
