They may not vote for the democrat in their district, but they don't have to for this to be a wave election. It's hard for polls to account for turnout. Also, a lot of Congressional districts don't even get polled because of the cost and because many of them have not been competitive historically.
do trumpers even believe trump is responsible for anything bad? We will see.

And will dems even care to reign in tariffs? dems love protectionism

Not all dems like protectionism. The socialist wing does.

And by the way the worst single mistake ever made in the history of our country — going into the Middle East by President Bush. Obama may have gotten ‘em out wrong, but going in is to me the biggest single mistake made in the history of our country. Because we spent $7 trillion in the Middle East. Now if you wanna fix a window some place they say, “oh jee, let’s not do it. $7 trillion and millions of lives — you know, ‘cause I like to count both sides. Millions of lives.

Bush went as far as campaigning on being extra tough on Iraq before he was elected, and before 9/11 even happened. Once he got in it was almost a given he'd eventually attack Iraq. 9/11 just moved up the timeline. I question how much real intelligence there really was. At the same time, Hussein may have been faking that he had them not thinking the US would actually do that much.

I agree it was the worst decision of the Bush presidency. He could have whacked around some Taliban in Afghanistan, gotten out and kept Hussein in check with sanctions.

I don't disagree with the conclusion that going into Iraq was a bad mistake, but the ever-equivocating Donald is on record as being in favor of, in effect, making the biggest mistake in history. One can find conflicting statements from him on this and nearly any other issue. He's probably the last guy I'd look to for moral authority on any question.

Lol. I don’t think that’s accurate anymore. The Bernie Sanders wing of the democrats in Congress is loud but small. Obama wanted TPP, if you remember.

Looks like a shameless effort by Beto to capitalize on a tragedy to score some political points. I.e., something trump would do.

Yeah... What exactly is wrong with Beto's word here?

It was TIC. I think there are plenty of dems who think they're socialists, but the number of true socialists is probably small. The same goes with the ideologues. Like the GOP, the Democrats are co-opted be the extreme views of a small number in their party.

I'm reading a very good book called "Republican Like Me". It's written by Ken Stern, the former CEO of NPR, who talks about how crazy he thought Republicans were until he met some of them. His experience mirrors mine as a Republican. I've said for over a decade that if politicians and big money would get out of the way, most Democrats and Republicans would find they have the same goals on 90% of the issues and could compromise on the other 10%.

Stern is still a Democrat; it's not a conversion story. It's a story about coming to the realization that most Americans aren't crazy, even if half of them are portrayed as such by the leaders of the other half. I'd recommend the book, and I'd like to see it's mirror come out defending Democrats.
