  • I think Trump says a TON of stuff (really - almost everything he says, tweets, etc) without really thinking about what he's saying. In that way, he isn't much of a politician - who tend to have their stuff scripted to make sure they don't say the same number of dumb things.

I don't know how serious he is - but I put this in the same realm of another recent comment in which he said that the government should just take people's guns without due process. Some part of him is probably somewhat serious - but there's no way he's actually thought through the ramifications. I'm guessing he's more thinking out loud, than anything.

Which gives us some insight to his thoughts - for better or worse.

I think he’s halfway serious. Remember he said a lot of crazy shit on the campaign that people just dismissed as being him talking out of his ass but then he turned around and tried to implement it.

I think that he's often serious - but still believe that he hasn't really thought through the ramifications of whatever it is he's spouting off about.

He never thinks through ramifications. The sad thing is it shouldn't be too much to expect a president to think through what he says before saying it or acts on it. But I'm sure that's harder for someone who has no foundational set of values. I don't care if he's like that in his private life or as a reality TV star, but to me it matters if he's in a position of real power.

          • After several weeks of improvement, Trump's approval numbers are trending badly again.

Abraham Lincoln's numbers trended badly sometimes.

                    • He is just sooooo stupid.

Corruption inquiry follows Netanyahu to Washington, clouding White House meeting

The relocated embassy Trump would inaugurate is actually a refitted office that will serve as the vanguard U.S. diplomatic headquarters until a permanent structure is built years from now.

Trump boasted Monday that he’s building it for a mere $250,000, instead of what he said was a $1 billion government “order.”

He appeared to be referring only to the initial office. The permanent structure is estimated to take roughly a decade to be built and could easily cost $1 billion.
                      Such a dumb dumb.
                      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                      • Michael Cohen's 130K transfer to porn star's lawyer was flagged as suspicious and reported to Treasury. And he allegedly complained right before the election that Trump hadn't refunded him.

I am shocked, shocked that Trump may actually have directed his personal lawyer to pony up hush money to a porn star mere days before the election.

                        • Trump's speech at the recent Gridiron dinner was surprisingly funny. I'm sure he didn't write a single joke himself, but I have to give him credit for at least delivering the self-effacing one-liners.

“I was very excited to receive this invitation and ruin your evening in person. That’s why I accepted.”

                          – On his son-in-law, Jared Kushner: “We were late tonight because Jared could not get through security.”

                          – On attorney general Jeff Sessions: “I offered him a ride over and he recused himself. What are you going to do?”

                          – On vice-president Mike Pence: “I really am proud to call him the apprentice. But lately he’s showing a particularly keen interest in the news these days. He is asking ‘has he been impeached yet?’ I don’t like that.”

“So many people have been leaving the White House. It’s invigorating since you want turnover. I like chaos. It really is good,” he said. “Who’s going to be the next to leave? [Trump adviser] Steve Miller or Melania?”

“I won’t rule out direct talks with Kim Jong-un. I just won’t.” He added: “As far as the risk of dealing with a madman is concerned, that’s his problem, not mine.”

                              • President Trump incorrectly described a phone call he had with South Korean President Moon Jae-in as being with someone from North Korea, a National Security Council official said Monday.

While discussing North Korea on Saturday, Trump said "they, by the way, called up a couple of days ago. 'We would like to talk.' And I said, 'So would we, but you have to de-nuke, you have to de-nuke.'" In reality, the call on March 1 was with Moon, the official told South Korea's Yonhap News Agency. "President Trump did not have a call with the North Koreans," the official confirmed. The leaders did talk about North Korea, and Moon told Trump about the envoy he was sending to Pyongyang to meet with Kim Jong Un.
