Trump says some over the top towards the press, but honestly sometimes they deserved it. They have very often been far from objective. They hate Trump so much it clouds their judgment. There are so many instances of biased reporting and genuinely fake news. Also, this isn't whataboutism to say Obama had a worse record versus the press. He put a bunch of journalist sources / whistleblowers in jail using the espionage act. The Obama Justice Department accessed the personal email of a Fox News reporter and surveilled the reporter’s parents and colleagues. They seized the home, work and mobile phone records of AP journalists. Has Trump done anything like this? If Obama wasn't a dictator press-wise then Trump certainly isn't.
Which civil liberties are being curtailed? Non-citizens that aren't entitled to the same constitutional protections as citizens, even if we should handle the situation better?
What floors me is the stuff that Obama got away with that was far more dictator-ish than what Trump has done, but because most of the mainstream media are democrats and Obama was their guy they rarely called it out / let it slide.Last edited by BlueK; 06-28-2018, 02:25 PM.

And Trump proclaiming that we should turn away asylum seekers at the border with no judges, no court? Clear unilateral violation of U.S. and international law. All the chants to "lock her up" and continuing to have pep rallies for no discernible reason like Fidel Castro? OH pointing back at the media and proclaiming them to be, to raucous applause from his followers, to be "the real enemy of the people?" Are you serious with this shit? Exercising his pardon power to get his political allies off the hook WAYYYYY outside the regular protocol - as in BEFORE THEY ARE EVEN SENTENCED? And decimating our relationships with our strongest allies, trading partners and neighbors while keeping his tongue firmly planted up Putin's rectum? Oh how about the f*king MILITARY PARADE they are ramping up to have in his honor? Trump can eat 12 dicks. Not sorry."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

In all seriousness, I do think it's a little troubling that having a president who just gets things done comes higher in the priority list for so many voters than one who knows and respects the Constitution.Last edited by BlueK; 06-28-2018, 02:44 PM.

Trump says dumb stuff sometimes and isn't an expert in the Constitution, but he's not some budding dictator. That is such as crock of $#!&. Trump favors more freedom, is reducing the size of govt and taxes, and eliminating lots of regulations. That's not what a dictator does. Dictators would want more. He's enforcing existing law, but that's somehow a dictatorship! Dictators like gun control, but not Trump. Obama muses on how it's easier to govern China and weaponizes the IRS, the DOJ, FBI, and more but Trump is the dictator!
Also, isn't this a good time to reflect on the fact that the federal govt has too much power?"The mind is not a boomerang. If you throw it too far it will not come back." ~ Tom McGuane

Leave the WTO because global trade sucks! America only!
https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/29/polit...ion/index.html
"The President's economic advisers have pushed back when Trump raises the idea of withdrawing from the organization that regulates international trade, Axios reported, citing sources with direct knowledge."
"Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin pushed back against the report during an interview Friday morning with Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo, calling it "fake news." --
Really Steve? What are you going to call it when Trump says it in public today or sometime next week. We know he wants to leave every other trade agreement we have, why not walk away from the WTO? Do you really think this is a fake report or is this your way of expressing extreme frustration at how clueless your boss is? I'll bet on the latter.Last edited by BlueK; 06-29-2018, 07:05 AM.
