On another note, Trump needs the same macro econ course that 90% of the electorate does. If I hear him talk about trade deficits one more time I think I'm going to kick a puppy.

He's even dumber re: immigration. I can't imagine what he is possibly knowledgable about at all if he's a "businessman" who can't figure out macroeconomics/ econ 101.

Like most successful politicians, he is knowledgeable about playing on people's fears, real or imagined.

      • No one in modern memory has been so bad with the press as Trump has. Skipping the correspondence dinner, constantly bitching about fake news...

        • Trump has been president for one year and 140 days. Dunno, seems like it's been longer. Does it seen longer to anyone else?

Yes because he does and says shit like this, but hey it's worth for his backers (and Putin has to love it) so they can get some lolz when he "makes heads explode," and triggers libs! :

Trump Threatens to End All Trade With Allies

Leaving the G7 summit on Saturday, President Trump said that the U.S. might end all trade with America’s closest allies if those countries don’t submit to his demands over reduced trade barriers. Trump also confirmed that he had told the leaders of Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Canada, and Italy that there should be no tariffs between them and the U.S. of any kind. Whether Trump’s characteristically hyperbolic threat, or overarching proposal, will be taken seriously is another matter.

Referring to what he called “ridiculous and unfair” tariffs on U.S. imports, Trump said, “It’s going to stop — or we’ll stop trading with them. And that’s a very profitable answer, if we have to do it.”

            • I think people take it for granted how great it is that Canada is our neighboring country to the north. I can't think of a better country to share a border with. It's idiotic to act like a dickhead towards their PM, even if it is a moron like Justin Zoolander.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

              • My worst fears about trump were always immigration and his dumbass trade shit. He has done worse in both than I possibly imagined, and the party being his sex slave is making it worse.

In fairness, the lib triggering IS pretty fun.

                  • Come you Dems... you are blowing it!

                    Are Democrats Blowing It?

Trump is not flaming out, jobs and the economy are thrumming, and their Sanders-style socialism is not winning new fans.

In 2016, congressional Democrats were given a gift: the election of Donald Trump. Trump’s approval ratings had never crossed 51 percent; they’d consistently hovered in the low 40s. His personal popularity had always been low, and he had an obvious penchant for jumping on political land mines with both feet. All Democrats had to do was sound reasonable, and they’d probably take back the House of Representatives in sweeping fashion.

                    Oh well.

The latest polls show that the generic ballot lead for Democrats has dropped from a nearly insurmountable 13 points in December to about three points today. According to a new CBS News/YouGov tracking poll, the odds on a Democratic House takeover are now about 50/50. On average since 1865, the party in power has lost 32 House seats and two Senate seats in midterm elections; Democrats need just 24 seats to flip the House this year. Yet they’re still falling short.

Yeah, we want tariffs and no free trade with these countries, dammit! Wait, what?

                        • A thought during my morning run: What if, a few days before Obama's inauguration, the Ritz-Carlton hotel chain offered him a perpetual 10% royalty in exchange for allowing them to rebrand their luxury resort chain, "Obama." He wouldn't have to do any work, although other Obama family members could work for the new chain. And Obama would vacation at various Obama-branded resorts and hold meetings with world leaders there (paid for by the government), and the feds would pick up the Secret Service tab for his family members' travel to the opening of other Obama resorts. Would Hannity have a problem with that? How does that differ from what Trump is doing?

Forgive my lack of interest in all things Trump, but did he rebrand a luxury hotel chain in his name?

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Not a chain, but multiple buildings and resorts, the most depressing for me of which is the venerable Turnberry golf club.

He is all about himself. Even if he leaves our economy in shambles, he will come out, like all presidents before him, much richer than when he entered. Nothing builds wealth like success in politics.
