Now that his office has been violated, the good doc (who looks like the weird expert on aliens in Independence Day) reports that Trump dictated the letter himself. Imagine my surprise.
    Truly marvelous.

Also, I loved his latests tweets about l'affaire stormy, in which he says that NDAs are very common among "celebrities and people of wealth." Even tawdry affairs with porn stars end up making Trump look famous and rich!

    • Trump's cabinet does feature some deplorable people

EPA Secretary Scott Pruitt created a travel wishlist and had staff find reasons to go.

      • In some parallel universe Uncle Ted is up in arms about this:

Trump aides hired Israeli private intelligence firm to dig up dirt on Obama officials: report

Aides to President Trump reportedly hired an Israeli private intelligence firm to dig up compromising information on two of former President Obama's foreign policy officials in an attempt to discredit the Iran nuclear agreement, according to reports obtained by UK newspaper The Observer and published in The Guardian.

The Observer reports that Trump officials contacted the firm and directed it to find compromising personal information on former deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes and Colin Kahl, Vice President Biden's national security adviser.

The intent of the "dirty ops" mission allegedly was to find information that could be used by the Trump administration to discredit the Iran nuclear deal. Trump faces a May 12 deadline to renew U.S. involvement in the deal.

          • Trump's tweet this morning basically gave away what he means by "fake" news:

            https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/09/polit...eet/index.html

"The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake). Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?"

Put aside the authoritarian -- but ultimately empty -- threat about taking away the media's "credentials," and focus instead on this sentence: "91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake)."

To Trump, those words mean the same thing. Negative news coverage is fake news. Fake news is negative news coverage.
This is, of course, not true. Negative news coverage -- or, seen more accurately through the Trump lens, media coverage that he feels is not sufficiently favorable to him -- is not, by definition, fake. Fake news is made-up news.

            • Why 91%, not 90%?

91% has the air of precision; 90% sounds made-up, or at least like an estimate. Trump's likes to sound like he knows what he's talking about, even though 93% of the time he has no clue.

                • The US Ran The Highest Monthly Budget Surplus In History

Record tax receipts will lead to the largest-ever monthly budget surplus for the federal government, congressional analysts said in a new report, as Americans hand over more money to Washington.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the April surplus will total $218 billion, breaking the prior record of nearly $190 billion notched in April 2001.

Greater-than-expected tax receipts drove the surplus, CBO said, noting the record $515 billion in receipts for the month was as much as $40 billion more than the agency estimated about a month ago.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

                        • Simply awesome.

Trump is no longer the worst person in government

Trump is what he is, a floundering, inarticulate jumble of gnawing insecurities and not-at-all compensating vanities, which is pathetic. Pence is what he has chosen to be, which is horrifying.
                          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm good with impeaching Pence also just for being creepy.

The whole trip to Arizona to basically endorse Arpaio was just another tactic to try to hold onto the sleazier (white supremacist) parts of Trump's base for whenever Trump isn't there any more.
