Kevin Dunn- Transferred to USD where he played D-line (not sure if Utah switched him to a lineman or USD, either way let's count it)
    Brett Ratliff- stayed at qb
    Brian Johnson- stayed at qb
Corbin Louks- played all over the place, transferred to Nevada where he played receiver.
    Chad Manis- switched to linebacker
    Griff Robles- switched to linebacker
    Terrence Cain- stayed at qb
    Jordan Wynn- stayed at qb
    Brian Blechen- switched to linebacker/safety
Tyler Shreve- transferred to a JC
    Travis Wilson- stayed at qb
Brandon Cox- He would get switched if he could stay healthy
Donovan Isom- lol I remember all the hype about this kid, a black kid from Louisiana, he had a MIami offer!! Ute fans were all ready to anoint him the next big thing. He transferred to Southeastern Louisiana.
Connor Manning- still sitting bench as a qb
Chase Hansen- switched to safety before he blew out his knee

16 qb commits, and 9 of the 16 either switched positions and/or transferred.
How awful do you have to be at QB at Utah to be switched to a different position?

Wasn't Covey a QB in high school too? Or was he recruited as an "Athlete"?

Other than the fact that he is a far superior football player than you could ever hope to be, is there any reason you didn't mention Paul Kruger?

He was a decent passer in HS, but he has really weird mechanics on his throw and didn't have a deep ball. Mostly they used the pass to keep the defenses honest. Usually he would just tuck and run.

No way he could play that position in college.

              • Covey was recruited to play QB on trick plays in the end zone. So far, so good.

Utah athletic director Chris Hill said Utah's inability to accommodate the demand is without precedent
"Even with the Fiesta Bowl or the Sugar Bowl, we've never been in a sellout situation, so it's been a challenge," he said.

                        • Failed a University of Utah class 3 times? No more tries for you

A college classroom is not the place for unlimited chances — at least not at the state's flagship school.

The University of Utah's governing panel on Tuesday voted to limit undergraduates to three attempts at passing a class.

The Board of Trustees, including President David Pershing, voted unanimously on the new policy in its monthly meeting without discussion. It is the first time the school has put a ceiling on the number of repeat attempts.

"Sometimes, the student gets it in the back of their head that they can't do anything but go to medical school," said Martha Bradley, senior associated vice president for undergraduate studies, pointing to one example.

The change may unnerve students now cramming for final exams in organic chemistry, introductory math and academic writing — some of the most-repeated courses.

                          . . . . . . .

The shift, Bradley wrote in a letter to the Trustees, brings the U. "more in line" with the school's Pac-12 competitors and the state's other research institution, Utah State University.

The cap goes into effect for the Spring 2017 semester.
                          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
