There is a burger place in the Mirage that isn't great burgers, but has some of the best milkshakes around. DH introduced me to their Twinkie shake.

I'm not as fancy as many here so I love buffets, Cosmo and Caesars are about equal for the best spot IMO. There are these tiny horchata bottles you can get at Caesars that pushes it over the top for me.

Picasso in the Bellagio is the best food I've ever had. ldc and I have been there 4 times and it has never disappointed, it makes it hard to strike out and try new places because we like it so much.

Last time we went to Scarpetta and I got food poisoning, which was really awful but for some reason made DH happy as he hates Scott Conant. We also did Bachi Burger from DDD, it held up to my experiences with other places from that show, good nothing to spectacular.

The other place I've been wanting to try is China Poblano in Cosmo. That's on next weekends itinerary.

You guys know that you aren't getting the original things you buy anywhere, rather just copies of the originals?

I dont like buffets but the Rio has a good buffet.

Had the bone-in ribeye at the SW this week. Awesome.

One that hasn't been mentioned that I like is Yellowtail in the Bellagio. It doesn't have the greatest reviews but I think it is awesome.

BLT burger. Pretty sure it's the S'mores shake I introduced you to. And I agree, the burger is just ok.

You didn't die, so I don't feel bad.

Ha or earlier. When I was in college, the Rio buffet was basically nirvana because they had prib AND Chinese food. Also, not sure if anyone has done a slutification analysis comparing cocktail waitresses but the Rio cocktail waitress outfit had to rank pretty high on that scale. I bet pelagiu$ had done some sort of study on this issue.

Yeah, I chose 2002 because that was just before Vegas went crazy with the upscale buffets (which began with the Bellagio in 2000). Up until that point, most of the buffets were $15-20 and it was about quantity. The Bellagio was really the only upscale buffet in the casinos.

In the late 90s' Rio changed the game a bit with the Carnaval, what with all its different ethnic stations. From 1997 through 2002, the Rio was the buffet of the people, and the Bellagio was that super expensive buffet that most people weren't willing to try. By 2004, people had figured out it was worth $10 more to get some quality mixed in with that quantity, and everyone began trying to outdo the Bellagio. It has resulted in some fantastic buffets, most of which are $40 or more. The Rio still hangs around in people's minds as an awesome buffet, but it is really subpar by LV buffet standards.

Vegas is kind of our go to date night if we want to get out of town. We have season tickets to the Smith center so we know the restaurants around there the best. I don't know what it is, but I've never really had a good dining experience on the Strip. I liked Mon Ami Gabi well enough, and l'Atelier de Joel Robuchon was also good, but it's just not my style. This is one spot I'll agree with DDD--everything seems...just not original.
I like some places off the Strip though. Shaka keeps forgetting that I was with them at Vietnamese place and that was really good. Lotus of Siam is also fantastic. Donut has given me some great recommendations. The two favorites - one is no longer open, the other, Grape street, is this converted wine cellar type place with a great ambience and the best Chilean sea bass I've ever had. The Bronze Cafe is...unique, with great sandwiches. Those are a few of our favorites.

At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I love Vegas but the beat restaurants are out of country. New York has great food but I tend to like ethnic. Good observations ER.

NYC has decent ethnic food if you look hard enough.
