Is it possible for Kevin Durant to play his entire career and never be the best player in the league for any one season? LeBron is lighter, will get more easy buckets in transition, and can play more tight perimeter defense again because he won't have to rebound as much. He's still the #1 guy in the league for at least one more season.
At age 20, Durant had a PER of 20.8, WS/48 of .132, and was already scoring so easily. But he wasn't doing much else on the court.
At the same age, Anthony Davis had a PER of 26.5 and WS/48 of .159. He averaged 21, 10, and almost 3 bpg last year. And before Durant left the team and George got hurt, a few summaries of Team USA practices had Davis pegged as the best player on the team.
I wonder if Davis will surpass Durant before LeBron gives up his place as best in the game. Seems crazy to think that Durant just turned 26 and might never be the best in the game.
